STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENT

FOR

AIR HANDLER – BUILDING 7116 (116ACS)

1. General Information

1.1 Since 1 Feb 2021, the existing Air Handler has been tagged “UNSERVICEABLE” with a Notice of Hazard (AF form 1118) due to extensive corrosion in the burner segment and has been deemed “end-of-life” by HVAC specialists. The Air Control Squadron (ACS) requires a serviceable Air Handler to operate the government owned Paint Booth in support of the unit’s deployable mission equipment valued at over $50M. The ACS is located less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean and is classified as a Class 5 “severely” corrosive environment. The Air Handler is a subsystem of the paint booth and provides heated and non-heated forced fresh air to both evacuate harmful paint fumes during spray painting operations and to provide heated air to facilitate the curing of applied corrosion preventative coatings as per manufacture’s requirements.

1.2 Logical project milestone guide:

Task 1: Installation. Install, connect paint booth ducting and interface wiring (controls) as well as any other connections or services not specifically excluded required for the unit’s functionality, and operationally check the newly installed Air Handler System. The Contractor is excluded from providing electrical, plumbing, and gas line re-connection.
