About this file

This is a specifications document for air filters issued by the City of Bridgeport Board of Education in Connecticut. The city seeks bids for three types of air filters: Aeropleat IV, GeoPleat, and Aeropac models, with unit pricing only and quantities to be determined based on available funding during the fiscal year. All prices must be delivered pricing, as deliveries will be made to individual schools throughout the city. Electronic bid submissions are due by 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 23, 2026, through the City's OpenGov e-Procurement Portal. Bidders must create a free account to submit responses, and the written question deadline is 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. All bidders are required to regularly check the procurement portal for any issued addendums.

The Aeropleat IV specification requires medium efficiency ASHRAE MERV 8 pleated panels with synthetic media and welded wire grid support, with initial airflow resistance not exceeding 0.22", 0.27", or 0.21" w.g. depending on filter depth. The GeoPleat specification calls for Aerostar GeoPleat mini-pleat filters in MERV 11, 13, 14, or 15 ratings, manufactured by Filtration Group with plastic frames and 4-inch nominal depth. The Aeropac specification requires high efficiency ASHRAE MERV 11, 13, or 14 box-style filters with micro fine glass mat media and aluminized steel enclosures. All three filter types must be listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL Class 900) and manufactured by ISO 9001:2000 certified facilities. Bidders must provide product test reports complying with ASHRAE Standard 52.2-2007 for the specified filter types or approved equivalents.

FILTER TYPES

AEROPLEAT IV AIR FILTER

Air filters shall be medium efficiency ASHRAE MERV 8 pleated panels consisting of a synthetic media blend, media support grid, and enclosing frame.

Sizes shall be noted on any drawings or other supporting materials

Filter media shall be a synthetic blend, lofted to a uniform depth, and formed into a uniform radial pleat. There shail be at least 15, 15 or 11 pleats per linear foot for (1) inch deep, (2) inch deep, or (4) inch deep filters, respectively.

A welded wire grid, spot-welded on centers and treated for corroslon resistance, shall be bonded to the downstream side of the media to maintain the radial pleat and prevent media oscillation.

An enclosing frame, of high wet=-strength beverage board shall provide a rigid and durable enclosure. The frame shall be bonded to the media to prevent air bypass and include integral diagonal support members on the air entering and air existing side to maintain uniform pleat spacing in varying airflows.

The filter shall have a Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value of MERV 8 when evaluated under the guidelines of ASHRAE Standard 52.7-2oo7 lnitial resistance to airflow shall not exceed O.22" ,0.27" or 0.21" w.g. at an airflow of 350, 500, and 500fpm on (1) inch,(2) inch,or(4) inch deep models, respectively. Manufacturer shall guarantee integrity of product to 2.0" w.g.

City of Bridgeport

The filter shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories as UL Class 900

Manufacturer shall provide evidence of facility certification to ISO 9001:2000.

Bidder must provide product test report including all details as prescribed in ASHRAE Standard

52.2

Filer shall be Camfil Farr Aeropleat lV or equivalent.

GEOPLEAT AIR FILTER

Filters shall be Aerostar GeoPleat mini-pleat air filters as manufactured by Filtration Group.

Filters shall be Underwriters Laboratories classified to U1900 and ULC-5111-07.

Filters shall be available in a nominal depth of (4) inches.

Filters are manufactured by an ISO 9001 registered company.

Media shall be 100% synthetic gradient dual density media that does not support microbial growth, Frame shall be constructed with high impact plastic and impervious to moisture and high humidity.

Media pack shall be adhered to plastic frame on all sides to prevent air bypass.

Filter shall have a hot melt bead separator to maintain pleat pack stability and ensure consistent pleat spacing for optimum air flow.

Filters shall be available in MERV 11 for low efficiency, MERV 13 and MERV 14 for medium efficiency, and MERV 15 for high efficiency when tested in accordance with ASHRAE Standard

52.2 2-2007.

lnitial resistance of filters shall not exceed the following:

Flow (fpm) MERV 11 MERV 13 MERV 14 MERV 15

5OO O.24" w.g. 0.33" w.g. 0.39" w.g. 0.43" w.g.

Filter shall be rated to withstand a continuous operating temperature up to 150 degrees F, Filters shall have a recommended final resistance of 1.5" w.g.

AEROPAC AIR FILTER

Air filters shall be high efficiency ASHRAE supported media box-style filters consisting of wet-laid micro fine glass mat media, safe-edge aluminum separators, frame to media pack adhesive bonding, and an aluminized steel enclosure.

Sizes shall be noted on any drawings or other supporting materials.

Filter media shall be one continuous sheet of micro fine wet-laid glass mat media. The media shall be capable of withstanding a relative humidity level of 99%.

Media separators of aluminum construction shall provide media separation and promote uniform airflow across the media surface. The edges of the separators shall incorporate a safe-edge on the air entering and air existing sides so the separators will not puncture the media.

An enclosing frame of galvanized steel, with an aluminized finish shall provide a rugged and durable filter pack. A peripheral header shall be included for side access or built up bank frame installation.

The filter shall have a Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value MERV 11, MERV 13, MERV 14 per

ASHRAE Standard 52.2-2007 . lt shall have a M E RV-A of (11,13,14) when tested under Appendix

J of that standard.

lnitial resistance to airflow shall not exceed (0.15", 0.60", 0.55") w.g. at an airflow of 500 fpm.

The filter shall be listed by Undenrvriters Laboratories as U1900.

Manufacturer shall provide evidence of facility certification to lSo 9001:2000.

Product shall be Camfil Farr Aeropac or equilivent.
