About this file
This document contains a response to questions regarding a federal solicitation for the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey - Medical Provider Component (MEPS-MPC). The solicitation is seeking a contractor to continue operations of the MEPS-MPC, which collects medical expenditure data from providers on services received by household respondents. Key responsibilities for the contractor include recruiting and managing data collection staff to obtain records from over 5,500 hospitals, 13,000 office-based providers, 600 home care providers, and 100 institutions. The contractor will also identify over 20,000 hospital physicians that bill separately, and collect data from 8,000 pharmacies. Additional duties are processing and analyzing the collected data, producing internal files, and documenting the project over a five year period of performance consisting of a base year and four option years. The solicitation is issued by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
