6. The following is added to Section C.1, under Project Description:

In addition to the original solicitation, work includes construction of a new 20,000-gallon concrete water storage tank at Rincon Fire Station and the option of adding the construction of three additional tanks and the demolition of two additional tanks. Option items include construction of two new 10,000-gallon concrete water storage tanks and another 20,000-gallon concrete water storage tank on the Angeles National Forest. Optional work items also include the demolition and removal of the existing 140,000-gallon concrete partially-buried water tank at Charlton and the 10,000-gallon bolted steel tank at Angeles Crest Station. Option items will be exercised by the government on an item by item basis. The government will decide which option items will be exercised on or before June 30, 2010.

The following is added under Tank Demolition:

Provide a description of tank demolition procedures including materials, equipment, and processes to be used for demolition.

In addition to the original solicitation, the following tank demolition will be added as optional items.

Charlton Tank. Demolition of this tank is included as an option item on the Schedule of Items. The existing Charlton tank is identical to the existing Chilao Manzanita tank in the original solicitation except that the wooden roof structure was destroyed in the recent Station Fire. A single 2” water line is connected to the tank, acting as both a supply and distribution line.

The existing tank and all appurtenances, such as ladders, hatches, vents, etc. shall be completely dismantled and disposed of off Forest Service land in compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations for waste handling and disposal. This includes the burned material and debris from the wooden roof structure. Existing security fence around the tank shall also be removed from Forest Service land.

Angeles Crest Station Tank. Demolition of this tank is included as an option item on the Schedule of Items. There are two water storage tanks at Angeles Crest Station—a concrete tank and a bolted steel tank. The tank to be demolished and removed is the bolted-steel tank. The concrete tank is to remain. The existing tank to be removed is a 10,000-gallon bolted steel tank 16’ in diameter by 7’ high. A 1-½” supply line and 2” distribution line are connected to the tank. There is no vehicle access to the tank. The tank is located approximately 50 feet above and 300 feet total distance from the road.

The existing tank and all appurtenances such as ladders, hatches, vents, etc., shall be completely dismantled and disposed of off Forest Service land in compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations for waste handling and disposal.

The following is added under Tank Construction:

Provide a description of tank construction procedures including materials, equipment, and processes to be used for construction.

In addition to the original solicitation, the following tank construction will be added as a pay item.

Rincon Tank. New tank shall be constructed of reinforced concrete and have a minimum capacity of 20,000 gallons. New tank shall be the same height as the existing tank (9 ft.) Contractor should confirm existing height on site.

New tank shall be constructed adjacent to existing water tank. Location will be marked on the ground by the Forest Service.

Upon completion of new tank, both existing and new tank shall be able to be isolated on the water system. New tank shall be connected to existing 1” water supply line that is connected to existing tank. New tank shall be connected to the new distribution line, anticipated to be 6” in diameter and a new second supply line, anticipated to be 2” in diameter. Contractor should confirm line connections and sizes on site.

A water line shall connect the new tank to the existing tank in such a manner that the water level in each tank will be the same at all times while both tanks are in operation. Water line shall contain a valve to allow for isolation of tanks.

New tank shall be equipped with a tank drain, an overflow drain, a roof access hatch, liquid level indicator, water level control access, exterior ladder with anti-climb door, interior ladder, roof vent, and other appurtenances as required.

Upon completion of the new tank, a new security fence shall be installed around the tank matching the existing fence. Current fence is a 6-foot high commercial-grade chain link fence topped with three strands of barbed wire and is accessed with a 4-foot wide gate.

In addition to the original solicitation, the following tank construction will be added as option items.

Charlton Tank. Construction of this tank is included as an option item on the Schedule of Items. New tank shall be constructed of reinforced concrete and have a minimum capacity of 10,000 gallons. New tank shall be installed at the same location as the existing tank. Existing tank is below grade. Contractor may design and construct the new tank as a buried or partially-buried tank or may fill existing tank site and construct the tank as an above ground tank. Any unused portion of the existing below-ground tank shall be filled in so that the final grade of finished ground following tank construction is at the same level as the existing road.

New tank shall be connected to existing 2” water line that acts as both a supply and distribution line. Contractor should confirm line connection and size on site. Existing valves and valve boxes at the tank on existing supply and distribution line shall be replaced. All water lines on the tank side of the valve shall be replaced.

New tank shall be equipped with a tank drain, an overflow drain, a roof access hatch, liquid level indicator, exterior ladder with anti-climb door, interior ladder, roof vent, and other appurtenances as required.

Upon completion of the new tank, a new security fence shall be installed around the tank matching the existing fence. Current fence is a 6-foot high commercial-grade chain link fence topped with three strands of barbed wire and is accessed with a 4-foot wide gate.

Angeles Crest Station Tank. Construction of this tank is included as an option item on the Schedule of Items. New tank shall be constructed of reinforced concrete and have a minimum capacity of 10,000 gallons. New tank shall be installed at the same location as the existing bolted steel tank (to be demolished) adjacent to the existing 6,000 gallon concrete tank. New tank shall be the same height as the existing concrete tank (7 ft.). Contractor should confirm tank height on site.

Upon completion of new tank, both existing and new tank shall be able to be isolated on the water system. New tank shall be connected to existing 1-½” water supply line that is connected to existing tank. New tank shall be connected to the existing 2” distribution line. Contractor should confirm line connections and sizes on site. Existing valves and valve boxes at the tank on existing supply and distribution lines shall be replaced. All water lines on the tank side of the valve shall be replaced.

There is no vehicle access to the tank site. The tank is located approximately 50 feet above and 300 feet total distance from the road.

Valyermo Tank. Construction of this tank is included as an option item on the Schedule of Items. New tank shall be constructed of reinforced concrete and have a minimum capacity of 20,000 gallons.

Currently, there is no water supply or distribution line to the tank site. Tank shall be provided with a connection to an anticipated 6” diameter distribution line and a 2” diameter supply line and a shutoff valve for each line.

New tank shall be equipped with a tank drain, an overflow drain, a roof access hatch, liquid level indicator, water level control access, exterior ladder with anti-climb door, interior ladder, roof vent, and other appurtenances as required.
