CONSTRUCTION NOTES
Topsoil. Remove and conserve 4” of topsoil from the spoil piles and other areas within the construction limits. Do not disturb material and vegetation outside the construction limits. Stockpile conserved topsoil in approved location. Spread topsoil evenly over completed slopes.
Break clods and lumps with appropriate equipment to provide a uniform textured soil. Do not place topsoil when the ground or topsoil is frozen, excessively wet, or otherwise in a condition detrimental to the work.
Excavation and Embankment. Restore the dugout to approximate original ground contours. All material, including spoil piles, used to fill the dugout shall come from within the original construction limits as shown on the drawings and staked on the ground. The dimensions on the drawings are approximate and for information only. Compact the fill by operating spreading and hauling equipment over the full width and length of each layer of material. Place material in horizontal layers not exceeding 24 inches in compacted thickness. Finish slopes to provide gradual transitions in slope adjustments without noticeable breaks. Leave earth slopes with uniform roughened surfaces. An on site inspection will be made by the COR prior to acceptance of the work.
Dewatering. Remove water as necessary to perform the work. Dispose of water according to Federal, state, and local regulations.
