The pre-bid meeting was held on September 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. We met at the Pine Valley Ranger District Office in St. George, Utah. The pre-bid meeting notes are part of an amendment to the above referenced solicitation.

We are updating the specifications of the contract. Bidders are to bid on mastication of all pinyon and juniper trees under 8 inches Diameter at Breast Height (DBH), trees bigger than 8 inches DBH can be left alone.

The following is a list of questions and answers:

Needs to be everything in the chaining layer that is under 8” DBH and those files can be downloaded onto a GPS upon request.

The Question was asked about dead trees especially the ones that are down and have not rotted away from original chaining?

Answer is that standing dead are to be masticated but downed piles (a.k.a. windrows) could be left for wildlife habitat.

There are some larger maps that are available to view but must contact the Contracting Officer Representative or Project Inspector. They are not available to take.

As Shown on map that was included with the statement of work the project is 800 acres with two optional units at 200 acres a piece it will depend upon funds if those units will be added.

Camping on site is approved as long as it follows Forest Service standards anything in one spot above Forest Standards will need to be approved through the District Ranger.

Question was asked about the time frame of the project and would work be able to continue through the deer hunt?

The Project is 60 days starting in October and work will be able to go through the deer hunt that starts shortly thereafter.

It should also be known that Second Nature Entrada (a troubled youth rehabilitation group) has been known to do wilderness camps in the area of the project.
