QUALITY ASSURANCE SURVEILLANCE PLAN

FOR APPLICATION OF TEBUTHIURON

FOR CONTROL OF BIG SAGE

Inspections The Contracting Officer, the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and/or the Contracting Officer’s Representative’s Inspector (CORI) shall make periodic inspections. The Contractor or his representative is encouraged to observe the inspection and will receive inspection summaries upon request.

Inspection of Project Boundaries

Boundaries of the treated project areas will be checked to ensure that all of the area designated for herbicide application is treated and also to ensure that no application occurs outside the designated boundaries. Perimeters of the work areas will not be marked and shapefiles will be made available to applicators so that they may identify these boundaries with a global positioning system (GPS).

Inspection of Equipment and Calibration The Contracting Officer or the Contracting Officer’s Representative will, at the beginning of application of herbicide in any new area check to ensure that the equipment of the contractor is properly calibrated so that the proper amount of active ingredient is distributed.

Timing of Application The Contracting Officer or the Contracting Officer’s Representative will coordinate and consult with the contractor to ensure that applications of herbicide do not occur at times when weather will, or likely will, render the herbicide ineffective. Herbicide should not be applied prior to heavy weather events where runoff is likely to carry off the active ingredient from the project area.
