CN Bridge Designs

1) I am wondering if an incumbent exists for the (AE) Services for the design of two road bridges on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest requirement and if so, could you please provide the vendor and the corresponding contract number? >>There is no incumbent, these are new projects.

2) Does the SF330 need to be one whole package for the entire team (all team members together in Section E, all team example projects together in Section F (a total of 10 projects for all firms combined), and the entire team represented in one table G matrix), or does each firm’s 330 need to be separated out (so Firm A has their full 330, then Firm B has their full 330, and so on)? >>The SF330 should be one package for the entire team. Ie: all team members together in Section E, etc.

3) Will soil borings be required for the project? >> Yes, designers are responsible to perform appropriate subsurface exploration. Will one boring be required at each substructure (piers and abutments)? >> Exploration shall be sufficient to ensure proper foundation design.

4) What is the anticipated bridge width/clear roadway width of the proposed structure? >> Double-lane, 24ft clear

5) What is the proposed bridge railing type? >> TL2, either steel or timber.

6) Is it expected to have beam and EAT's coming off the end of the bridges? >> Rail terminals are expected; designed to be compatible with selected railing design and the final site grading plan.

7) Any enhancement features (Parking, canoe launches, fishing areas, etc.)? >> No enhanced features. Waterway protections and stream rehabilitation consistent with footprint of the resultant bridge and waterway impacts.

8) Any known endangered species? >> None known.

9) Is the consultant responsible for creating and submitting the NEPA Document? >> The F.S. will complete NEPA.

10) Is the consultant responsible for the permit process or is that being handled internally? >> Permit package is required with the services, including application fees and processing.

NOTE Regarding Q3-10: The selected AE Firm will be responsible to verify existing conditions, and to complete appropriate investigation, analysis, and design evaluation to provide optimal final design solution. We are not requesting pricing at this time just the SF-330 package to show your firm’s qualifications to do this type of project. The specific efforts will be more defined when the request for pricing goes out to the top ranked firm. Answers to questions 3-10 were provided in the event that it will help you better tailor your SF-330 package for this project.

11) Our firm is just outside the 125 mile radius, can we still submit a qualifications package? A package can still be submitted, however the firm will score lower in evaluation factor #3 – Location within 125 miles of Park Falls, WI (15 points) than a firm located within that radius.
