STATEMENT OF WORK

National Forests in North Carolina Croatan National Forest Crooked Run Road, NFSR 204– Road Realignment Survey

Project Narrative The National Forests in North Carolina requests surveying services to provide sufficient information for the design of road realignment of Crooked Run, NFSR 204. The project is located in Jones County, NC. The proposed realignment is going to follow abandoned railroad grade from its intersection with NFSR 204 and run south for 2.1 miles to its intersection with NFSR 3018.

Technical Requirements A) The survey shall provide the following:

1) Six (6) Control Points:

All of these shall be along the existing roadway, two beyond the north end of the survey boundary, and two beyond the south end and two at the approximate midpoint of the survey traverse. These points at either end shall be a minimum of 200’ apart but visible from one another. These shall be located beyond the toe of the fill slope where disturbance by maintenance and construction operation would not be anticipated.

Control Points shall be 2’ minimum length rebars with aluminum survey caps flush to the ground. Each shall be protected by three (3) 4’ long wooden stakes with 2’ – 3’ above ground to protect control points from disturbance.

2) Data shall be collected along cross sections every 50’ or more frequently if necessary to fully describe roadway. Cross section information shall include centerline, top of embankment, toe of embankment and points 50’ beyond the toes of the fill slopes.

3) Other features to be collected include utilities, property lines, centerlines of drains, ridge line and inlets and outlets of existing drainage structures

4) All requested data shall be delivered as three dimensional point data including point descriptions and also as an electronic site plan showing all existing features and 2’ topographic contours in AutoCad 14 or in a later release of AutoCad. This data shall be furnished on a readable computer disk, thumbdrive, or a Drop Box type medium.
