Below are the current Questions and Responses for the above mentioned Solicitation

Water well at Indian Boundary

1. Can bentonite chips be used instead of pressure grouting with concrete? The use of bentonite would reduce down time as there would be no need to wait on it to cure as you would with concrete. Bentonite is also easier to handle. It provides a better seal because it expands and does not shrink like concrete.

A: Bentonite is NOT acceptable. Neat Cement Grout - Postitive placement exterior method or similar shall be used.

2. Need more information, details on the water quality testing in order to more accurately bid the project.

A: Exhibits attached below should be posted on website with project.

3. Is it necessary to use centralizers on the casing. will only introduce more dirt, loose material into the bore hole.

A: Yes, Centralizers are required. At bottom and 25 ft. spacing thereafter.

4. Can we use 8 3/4 bit instead of 10 1/4? State code only calls for a min. 1 1/2 inch clearance when using bentonite chips. The drilling process creates a larger diameter hole than the bit size used. 8 3/4 bit usually poduces at least a 9 - 9 1/2" hole, often larger.

A: Use method to produce desired results. Annular space must be 1.5 inches.

5. Does the casing have to be removed on a well that is to be abandoned?

A: No - only if it can be removed with reasonable effort.

See Exhibits 1-5 attached.
