SECTION 01 11 00

SUMMARY OF WORK

PART 1 – GENERAL

A. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The intent of this project is to provide a safer facility for public use. The existing deck is old and its hardware is starting to show its age: rust, shear contact are some of the concerns. The project consists of removing the existing 20' by 16' deck at Keown Falls. We are replacing the deck with a new wooden deck 20' by 16' in the same location and building a CMU wall to the north end to add stability to the structure. We are facing this wall with rock veneer to match existing rock columns (to be re-used) for aesthetics.

B. LOCATION

From I-75 Exit 320 near Resaca, GA, go west on highway 136 for 7 miles. At stop sign, turn right to stay on highway 136 for another 7 miles. Turn left on Pocket County Road and continue for 5 miles.

Turn right on Forest Service Road 702 and proceed 0.6 miles to picnic area.

C. PRICE RANGE

The Government price range is less than $25,000.

D. ENVIRONMENTAL

The Contractor is to dispose of all waste material off of National Forest System Lands in an appropriate manner, and location.

The Contractor SHALL NOT remove any merchantable timber from the project.

The Contractor SHALL NOT perform any equipment maintenance within 100 feet of any stream.

Contractor shall be extremely careful working around the north cliff.

E. CONTRACT TIME IS 60 DAYS

F. INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE

Periodic field inspections will be made by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) or the COR’s designated inspector. Work not completed to the Contract Specifications shall be reworked without compensation to the contractor.
