AMEND 000001

UNIT: FIA

PROJ NAME: Black Hills NF SD Data Collection Services

This Amendment 000001 DOES NOT change the proposal due date of March 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM Eastern Time.

Please acknowledge receipt of this amendment by returning a signed copy of the SF 30 with your proposal package.

The purpose of this Amendment 000001 is as follows:

1. Replace SF 1449 (Proposal due date on page 3 was amended from January 1, 2016 to March 30, 2017).

2. Replace Page 100, Base Period Schedule of Services Attachment A.

3. The following Requests for Information (RFI) were received and are hereby answered as follows:

Q1) Are all the plots on National Forest land or are they on private ownerships within the area as well?

A1) All plots are on National Forest Land, however, the best access to some plots might be crossing private lands. In addition, if a plot falls near a National Forest land boundary there may be a chance that a subplot or part of a subplot falls on private lands. We will go ahead and collect inventory data on these subplots. In both cases permission will be need from the private landowner. This will occur on small number of plots or not at all. The number of plots with these conditions is unknown.

Q2) The South Dakota FIA contract administered by the state mentioned collecting some Rocky Mountain variables on National Forest plots. Is this the case with this contract?

A2) Yes, the Rocky Mountain variables will be collected on these plots. These variables are listed the NRS FIA Field Guide, version 7.1 in Appendix D. The field guide is posted on our web site. The link to the web site is in the solicitation, page 11 of 114 top of the page.

Q3) Should I expect a large amount of plots to be predominantly forested with Rocky Mountain Juniper or other woodland species?

A3) Rocky Mountain Juniper does grow in the Black Hills of South Dakota, but it will not be found on a large number of plots. The number of plots with Rocky Mountain Juniper is unknown. Rocky Mountain Juniper is the only known woodland species in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

4. Distribution of FIA Plots is hereby attached.
