MOWING AND TRIMMING REQUIREMENTS: Mowing shall consist of cutting vegetation to a height of not more than three inches from the ground, ensuring that no strips of uncut vegetation remain. Mowing equipment must be of the type and operated in a manner that will prevent tractor wheels or mower from tearing out turf on turns. Mowing will not be permitted when the ground is so wet as to cause wheel rutting. Mowing work is not complete until trimming around features, natural and man-made, is complete.

Trimming shall consist of cutting vegetation to a height of not more than three inches around all features, natural or man-made, that protrude above the ground line to such height as to prevent passage of larger mowing equipment over them without damage to the equipment or object. All trimming will take place at the time of mowing. Work in these areas shall be accomplished in a manner that will preserve and encourage the growth of grasses. Chopping vegetation at or below ground level will not be permitted.

Each area will be completely mowed and trimmed prior to moving to another area.

Road banks and parking spurs will be mowed from edge of road to toe of fill and top of cut. Fences adjacent to hardened areas, such as paved or gravel roads, parking areas and walkways, will be mowed from edge of hardened area to five feet behind the widest point of fence. Contractor shall mow ditch lines through the bottom of ditches. Where the posted speed limit is 40 miles per hour or greater on approach roads to sites, Contractor shall mow and trim road-side areas within 200 feet of entrance signs. Where the posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour or less (or not posted at all) on approach roads to sites, Contractor shall mow and trim road-side areas within 50 feet of entrance signs.

Contractor shall remove the cut grass from all roads, sidewalks, paths, parking areas, and all camping units including under tables. Ground maintenance shall include keeping areas free of trash and/or litter. Trash and litter may be placed in dumpsters located in the campgrounds. No ashes will be placed in the dumpsters. Fallen limbs, loose rocks and all temporary rock fire rings will be picked up and scattered in wooded areas at least 50 feet from disturbed sites or removed off-site.

The Contractor shall be responsible for damage caused by mowing/trimming activities to buildings, picnic tables, camper hookups, fireplaces, drinking fountains, signs, guard posts, hitching posts, rails, trees, shrubs, culverts, vehicles, private property and other natural and man-made features within the areas. Damaged items shall be replaced at Contractor’s expense.

All mowers and trimmers will be equipped with safety guards and spark arrestors.

SITE CLEANING REQUIREMENTS AT BLOWING SPRINGS: Cleaning will be from the first week of April through the first week in December. Cleaning shall be once weekly within two days following each weekend generally on Mondays unless a holiday occurs on Monday. This schedule is intended to have the campground and surrounding areas clean after weekend use. Cleaning will be required in the campground, picnic area, dump station, spring area and parking lots.
