Questions and Responses

1) Question: What is the FS looking for on the drain repairs? Should they be dug up and have fresh gravel and posts installed?

Answer: Use plan depiction for installation of new water hydrants and drains as model for how repaired drains should function. Existing hydrant drains designated for repairs no longer drain due to excessive silt. Contractor may submit an alternate plan for restoring each drain to functionality without digging it up and replacing the existing pipe and rock after award of a contract, but quoted price should be sufficient to cover the appropriate amount of hand work needed to remove/replace each drain along with the #57 stone in accordance with the plan depiction of installed hydrant drains. Any posts, fountains or lines damaged during this operation shall be replaced at the Contractor’s expense.

2) Question: What are the payment and progress terms of the contract?

Answer: After a timeline is submitted and approved, progress payments shall be discussed in terms of % completion of work.

3) Question: Is there a Test and Inspection Plan provided and/or a contact person for government notification of times for inspection checkpoints?

Answer: The COR is the contact person for notification of inspection times and checkpoints.

4) Question: What are the slab dimensions for the fountains?

Answer: For the purposes of this solicitation, estimate the amount of concrete needed based upon a slab dimension of 5’x5’x4” for each accessible fountain.

5) Question: How shall draining to daylight be achieved on the lower shower location?

Answer: The slab elevation for each shower installation shall be determined in the field to facilitate proper drainage. Draining to daylight shall be achieved by field measurements to ensure that any water entering the drain shall flow unobstructed through the drain line to an area of lower elevation.

6) Question: How does water get to the showers/fountains that are to be installed?

Answer: Any work performed, including up to 20’ of line for any single installation, or any connections, etc.

necessary to establish an underground water supply line to any shower or fountain unit, shall be considered incidental to its installation.
