Scope of Work:

Base Bid) Remove existing two (2) Weil-McLain hot water, natural gas boilers, located in room 56 (Qty 1, Weil-McLain 988) and in room 62 (Qty 1, Weil McLain 1488), and replace them with one (1) condensing boiler to be installed in room 62. The Crops Research Lab is located at 1701 Centre Ave, Fort Collins, CO, 80526.

Add/Alt 1) Install one (1) condensing boiler to have manifold placed and installed with the base bid condensing boiler.

Add/Alt 2) Remove additional existing one (1) Weil-McLain hot water, natural gas boiler, located in room 62 (Qty 1, Weil McLain 1488), and replace them with two (2) condensing boilers to be installed in room 62. Work to be performed at site as above. If this alternate is selected all boiler operations shall be coordinated for safe and efficient operations of individual or combined boilers.

General Requirements:

Contractor shall submit for review and approval a set of specifications under 2012 CSI format for the removal, installation, inspection and testing of boiler systems and associated equipment. Contractor shall be responsible for all connections, electrical wiring, plumbing work, control wiring (including interfacing with existing Honeywell Building Automation System), duct work, etc. so that the entire new system operates as intended per the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications in a safe and efficiently. After the specifications have been approved by the Government, the Contractor shall submit to the Government for review and approval a list of all new materials to be used for this contract.

Materials include but are not limited to the following if not already specified in the specifications: High efficiency condensing Boilers, piping (by size and type), insulation, hangers (all hangers shall be complete assemblies), couplings, elbows, tees, reducing fittings. All submitted insulation shall be a minimum of 1” in thickness and made of fiberglass.

5.1.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for the temporary removal/disconnection and replacement/reconnection of any auxiliary piping, electrical wiring/conduits, duct work, pressurized water lines, sewer lines, gas lines, etc. not expressly associated with the removal and installation of the boilers, but is necessary for the Contractor as part of the removal/installation of the boilers and storage tanks. Coordination with the COR shall be done prior to any removal/disconnection, replacement/reconnection of any utilities to include electric, gas, water and sewer. COR will direct the Contractor when it is safe for the Contractor to proceed with any removal/disconnection and replacement/reconnection.

5.1.2 The Contractor shall be responsible for the removal of all necessary existing piping, insulation hangers, couplings, elbows, tees, reducing fittings of the existing boilers and storage tanks and replace with new piping, insulation, hangers, couplings, elbows, tees, reducing fittings from the point of where the boilers and storage tanks are situated within the existing mechanical room to where the Contractor proposes the location of the tie-ins to the existing system. Proposed tie-in location shall be reviewed and approved by the Government prior to the Notice to Proceed being issued to the Contractor. New materials shall be of the size and type appropriate for nature of the application or as specified within Section 5 of the PWS.

5.1.3 The minimum size of the new energy efficient boilers shall be Hamilton 3VO HWH Model –2000 Boiler, (http://www.hamiltonengineering.com/products/3VO.html) 2000MBH (each), natural gas fired, stainless steel condensing boilers with a minimum of 7:1 turn down ratio

316L stainless steel heat exchanger o Modulating stainless steel burner o Pressure relief valve o Temperature control thermistor

• (2) circulating pumps

• Pre-wired to EVO’s and pumps for single point electrical power connection

• Vent termination kit

• Condensate neutralizer (with single point drain)

• Gas Manifold –for single point gas connection (X psi)

• Externally Adjustable Thermostat

• Gas pressure regulator

• Outdoor air sensor for reset control

• Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve

• Dual High Limit Sensors

• Expansion tank

• System Separator, provide a complete pre-piped boiler loop

(decouple primary and secondary loop & also acts as an air and dirt separator)

• System control sensor mounted to HSS and pre-wired to lead EVO

• Router cellular plan Provide and install ASME CSC-1 required EPO switch at door (emergency power off)

5.1.4 The Contractor shall remove all debris associated with this contract and maintain a clean work site area. The contractor’s waste containers (dumpsters) shall be emptied on a weekly basis, more often if the dumpster becomes full. The work area in CRL Headhouse is to be kept free debris. The Contractor may use recycling containers for the contract. Debris removal shall be at Contractor’s own expense.

1. Demolition, removal, and disposal of existing boilers,

2. Provide and install new condensing boilers,

3. Provide rigging service

4. Provide and Install CPVC Boiler Venting

5. Provide (3) copies of O&M manuals for new equipment

6. Provide mechanical permit and inspection

7. Perform system startup and verify proper operation

8. Manufacturer’s warranty on equipment

9. One-year warranty on workmanship

10. All work to be performed during normal working hours

5.2.1 The Contractor shall, under:

Base Bid- remove two (2) existing and install one (1) new boiler, Total BTU input of 2000 MBH. Piping http://www.hamiltonengineering.com/products/3VO.html designed to allow for boiler under Add/alt 1 to be added to raised housekeeping pad.

Add/Alt 1- install one (1) new boiler, Total BTU input of 2000 MBH, on housekeeping pad of base bid unit. Connect boilers together to provide a total of 4000 MBH.

Add/Alt 2- remove one (1) existing and install two (2) new boilers, Total BTU input of 4000 MBH on second housekeeping pad. Connect these boilers to Base bid and Add/Alt 1 units for a combined total of 8000MBH.

New boilers above shall be as approved by the Government
