STATEMENT OF WORK

PROJECT NUMBER:

PROJECT LOCATION: US National Arboretum, Washington, D.C.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: One Base Year and Four, One Year Option Periods To Install and Remove Roof Panels on the Chinese Pavilion In accordance with this contract, the contractor shall provide all labor, material, equipment, and transportation to include all accessories and incidentals necessary to complete this job abiding by applicable Federal, State and local regulatory guidelines.

The contractor shall be required to notify the CO and/or COR in the event of any change in a scheduled work day. All contractor's work shall be monitored and inspected by USNA personnel and shall be performed in accordance with this statement of work.

The Contractor shall perform the work as follows:

Scope of Work

The Chinese Pavilion is part of the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum at the U.S. National Arboretum. The steel and concrete block structure has a lightweight removable roof system made of aluminum and polycarbonate panels that are stored in the basement of the pavilion during the growing season. Access to the basement is from the garage door located on the east side of the building. The interchangeable roof panels are removed and stored and stacked on end in the southern part of the basement each spring and re-installed each fall. In the fall, the roof panels are set in place to maintain a protective structure for the winter. There are four (4) ridges that run east to west. There are 16 interchangeable panels and 8 end panels for each ridge.

NOTE: Due to light nature of the panels, it is important that they are secured at the end of each work day. Also care should be exercised when carrying the panels so that they are not lifted due to wind.

The roof panels are light and can be carried by one person normally; however, some may require two people. Panels are to be hand carried from the basement in the fall and set in place.

Matching aluminum strips are used to anchor the roof panels so they stay in place. In the spring the reverse procedures are used to remove the roof panels.

The Arboretum requires a qualified contractor to remove the roof panels in mid-April and to re-install the roof panels in early-November time frames.

Special Instructions:

Note: The contractor must work with the Bonsai Staff at the USNA to ensure that the bonsai plants housed in the Chinese Pavilion are protected during the installation and removal of the panels.
