Questions & Responses – Amendment 001 to Solicitation AG-3187-S-14-0064
The above mentioned solicitation is hereby amended to incorporate the information below:
Q1. What is the average age of the group as well as how many people can we expect on each group?
R1. The total participant population is approximately 830 persons per year. Insurance coverage is a requirement for all J-1 visitors. J-1 compliant policies may be provided by, or purchased through, our office. Alternatively, participants may provide proof of coverage and copies of policies they have acquired on their own.
Our office currently enrolls approximately half of our total participant population in one of the policies available to us through IDIQ contracts, which is a preferred method of meeting program requirements and meeting program participant needs. The rest of the participants purchase J-1 compliant policies on their own and provide us with proof of that coverage. Given new streamlined administrative systems within our program and the new product offerings that may be available as a result of these solicitations, we would anticipate that some portion of the self-insured population will opt to take advantage of the policies available to them through our program and IDIQ contracts.
In the past, we have had on average 275 participants signed up on Basic Coverage policies each year. The average age was 38. The average length of the policy was 2.5 months.
Q2. I would greatly appreciate providing us claims history (i.e. how many people claimed, what were the claim amounts, and what was paid) for these groups. Your current plan providers are required to provide you this information. I have attached a sample Excel file that contains the claims history information our underwriters are seeking in order to provide a competitive quote.
