Questions for Common Stand Exams and Stocking Surveys under Solicitation AG-24H-S-13-0029

Will the Government provide shape files for stands to be inventoried for both common stand exams and stocking surveys?

Yes, the government will provide shape files for stands to be inventoried.

Should plot coordinates, other than those moved on the fly by the forester due to open or property boundaries, be recorded as the intended predetermined location used for navigating to plot center OR should the cruiser record the actual coordinates upon reaching plot center?

The actual plot coordinates should be used in every case. Pre-determined plot coordinates are acceptable to use as long as the plot location is the actual location of where the plot falls. Plot locations should be spaced evenly throughout the stands.

Is compliance with the accuracy standard of 12m/39ft (pg 14 of the ANF Field Procedure Handbook)for plot location determined by distance from cruiser’s actual plot location to the intended pre-determined plot location OR from cruiser’s actual plot location to auditor’s actual plot location?

Compliance would be from the pre-determined plot location coordinates, where the plot centers were originally supposed to land, unless a plot was moved for good reasons. In other words, whatever coordinates are used as the plot location, the inspector expects the plot to be at that location and the difference between the two is the accuracy standard.

For daily production estimates needed to provide a per plot quote, can you please provide a typical cruise intensity (acres per plot or grid spacing) for the common stand exams?

CSE - 1-14 acres = 1plot/2 acres 14-20 acres = 10 plots 20+ acres = 1 additional plot/10 acres over 20 Stocking - 1-9 acres = 2plots/acre 10-19 acres = 20 plots 20+ acres = 1 additional plot/4 acres over 20
