About this file
This is an Overhaul Description for a centrifugal pump used on U.S. Coast Guard 270 A&B Class cutters. The document specifies technical and logistical requirements for overhauling a Fairbanks Morse Defense centrifugal pump (Part Number 22500148-1, Stock Number 4320-01-504-8315) to like-new condition per OEM specifications, with a not-to-exceed cost estimate of $38,568.59.
Key contract requirements include: (1) preliminary inspection report within 30 days of receipt; (2) condition found report and cost proposal within 30 days detailing required repairs, replacement parts with individual pricing, labor rates and hours, and total service estimate; (3) final delivery 90 days from authorization to proceed; (4) hydrostatic testing for minimum 15 minutes at 50 PSI with government quality assurance witness; (5) overhaul per Fairbanks Morse Defense specifications using OEM or equivalent parts, with the exception of a mandated John Crane water seal (P/N B64864, NSN 4320-01-118-5280); and (6) a final inspection/assembly report documenting all OEM dimensions and clearances with actual measurements, highlighting any out-of-tolerance conditions. Each pump must be labeled with vendor name, serial number, model/part number, contract number, and delivery order number. Preservation requires OEM light gray paint with primer and two top coats, anti-corrosive rust inhibitor coating, two-year protection wrapping, moisture-resistant VCI envelope packaging with eight units of desiccant, individual wooden crate packing with 3/4-inch plywood construction, and bar code labeling per ELC specification D-000-0100. The warranty guarantees defect-free operation for 90 days post-installation up to two years after Coast Guard delivery. Recommended sources include Breco International (Houston, TX) and Fairbanks Morse Defense (Beloit, WI).
