QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Vendor Question #1: Regarding the chimney rock/brick removal to roof line; at this point are you intending to have the chimney flue liner/tile removed to the roof line as well, or, if it is in good condition, can the flue tile remain? (Assuming there is flue tile)

Forest Service Answer #1: Assume no chimney liners, but if chimney liners are discovered do not disturb the liners.

Vender Question #2: Are you intending to continue using the existing chimney cap/spark arrestor?

Forest Service Answer #2: Yes

Vendor Question #3: As masonry chimneys are generally finished with a mortar or concrete crown, will one be required? If so, please provide a specification on it.

Forest Service Answer #3: No. Reconstruction of the chimney shall match existing conditions.

Vendor Question #4: C.13 states that flashing materials, other than valleys, shall be stainless steel or galvanized iron. For flashings such as drip edge, is color clad steel or color clad aluminum acceptable?

Forest Service Answer #4: The acceptability of materials is based on the manufacturer’s recommendation.
