BAER Gates – Fabricate and Supply
AG-05GG-S-16-0002
Amendment 001 Information
A) Reference attached updated drawings.
B) Summary of changes to previous gate fabrication drawings:
Corrected bolt dimensions found in the Materials List.
Added and corrected dimensioning for the top and bottom gate panel hinge plates.
Added a missing reinforcement hinge component on the top panel hinge plate.
Added chamfering on top view hinge plate detail.
Removed “1/8” steel” reference from single gate lock box details. Drawings represent lock boxes fabricated from ¼” wall 8” square steel tubing.
C) Questions/Answers from Interested Parties:
Q1: Do the mounting holes for attaching signs to the gates need to be drilled?
A1: Yes. While providing signs and attaching them are not included in this contract, drilling the holes are.
Q2: What is type 2 OM?
A2: Type 2 OM refers to a specific type of Object Marker sign. Please ignore this aspect of the drawings as the signage is not part of the contract.
Q3: What does the 1/8” steel mean?
A3: The 1/8” steel label is an error, and will be removed in a drawing correction. The Lock Box portion of the gate structure is intended to be fabricated from a segment of 8” square tubular steel
¼” wall thickness. Expect to have corrected drawings posted to FBO this week.
Q4: Is this a square sleeve over the 4” post?
A4: No. This is another sign. Please ignore.
Q5: Material list calls for 3"x8" grade 8 bolts with nuts and washers is this the correct dimensions?
A5: No. The material list is in error in this regard. The bolt dimensions on the material list should read 3”x1” grade 8 bolts with nuts and washers. The bolt dimensions shown on the drawings are correct.
Q6: Is the dimension for the 1" diameter hole for the hinge plates 1 1/2" from the end of plate to center of hole?
A6: Yes. For all hinge plates, the distance from the center of the 1” diameter hole will be 1-1/2” from the end of the plate.
Q7: The bottom plate that is welded to the 4" tubing(hinge detail) correct at 8" long? what is the width?
A7: The bottom and the top hinge plates that are welded to the gate panel are 4” wide. However, the lengths shown are in error. The length of the top gate panel hinge plate is 14”, and the bottom gate panel hinge plate is 11” in length.
Q8: What is the width of the top plate welded to the 4" tube(hinge detail)
A8: 4”
Q9: How many lock pins are required for the single ? double gate?
A9: One lock pin is required for the single gate design, two for the double.
Q10: Is sandblasting prior to paint required?
A10: Sandblasting is not required. Any means by which the contractor elects to clean the steel prior to painting is acceptable, as long as it meets the requirements found in the drawing general notes, namely “All metal shall be free of surface contaminants such as grease, oil, rust, and slag, prior to paint application”.
Q11: Is unloading assistance(fork lift) available at each site of delivery?
A11: There will not be government provided unloading assistance at delivery sites.
