Continuation of Text From Page One

The purpose of this amendment is to provide a question and response:

1. Item 204 - Haul Material – it is detailed by the Mile. What I have seen normally will have a volume component in addition to the distance component (example - The Contracting Agency will measure haul in units of haul where one unit equals 100-cubic yards of excavated material hauled 100 feet. WSDOT). I have been unable to locate a measurement component in the FS docs; can you direct me on where to locate this?

a. RESPONSE: The unit (mile) price you submit on this item represents the maximum that you would charge for haul of materials for work specified in FP03 FS

Supplemental Specifications section 204. It is not intended to be a specific price that a successful firm will be held to using when quoting a project where specific quantities and distance are known, it represents a “ceiling” unit price.

2. Item 619 – Install Government Furnished cattle guard – LF measurement. I cannot find any specifications within the standards for this. Is this a precast concrete section with the guard on top that we need to excavate out to install? Does it necessitate fencing tie ins? Any help that you could provide would be beneficial.

a. RESPONSE: See FP03_FSSupSpecs.pdf file, 303.07.

3. I didn’t see any item for mobilization or per diem. If we intend to bid this work these costs are necessary to provide a complete bid. Unfortunately their magnitude will vary with the location and duration of the individual project in comparison to the location of the home office. This doesn’t lend itself to simple estimating for this type of bidding structure.

a. Mobilization is not to be included in the pricing of the items in B-1 of this solicitation.

Mobilization will be included in actual projects that are solicited to the firms included in the MATOC.

4. Unit bid prices; there is discussion in the compaction specifications regarding moisture but there is no bid item for water or for supply. This will be necessary for any backfilling (culverts) or placing of aggregate. We assume that the FS would provide a source but maybe not?

a. The items in Section B represents the maximum that you would charge for work specified in FP03 and FS Supplemental Specifications. It is not intended to be a specific price that a successful firm will be held to using when quoting a project where specific quantities and distance are known, it represents a “ceiling” unit price.
