THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS RESULTED FROM THE SITE VISIT TO THE WORK SITE ON MAY 11, 2016.
1. For Pay Item 32211 Aggregate surface coarse, grading 3/4inch minus pit run aggregate, 6 inch depth, compaction method B – What is the slope percentage to be applied to the aggregate parking area and would the Forest Service survey the area to provide this slope percentage? No, the Forest Service will not survey the parking area. Typically parking areas are sloped a minimum of -2% to provide drainage. So the contractor will be responsible for constructing a flat surfaced parking area that will drain/slope away from the existing roadway at a minimum of -2%..
2. For Pay Item 30111 Aggregate surface course, grading E, compaction method B – Can the contractor substitute the Existing Native Roadway Shoulder Slope Material called out in the Remarks in the Estimate of Quantities drawing sheet for the “Reject Rock” Aggregate Stockpile Material in the Ice Rock Quarry to reestablish roadway surface elevations to cover exposed rocks/boulders on the section of roadway? Yes, the contractor has the option of substituting the “Reject Rock” Aggregate Stockpile Material in the Ice Rock Quarry Material Source to reestablish roadway surface elevations to cover exposed rocks/boulders on the section of roadway instead of placing of the Existing Native Roadway Shoulder Slope Material called out in the remarks in the Estimate of Quantities drawing sheet. This option will be allowed at no additional cost to the Forest Service. The contractor is still responsible for placing the ¾ inch minus pit run aggregate at a 6 inch depth to cover the “Reject Rock” Aggregate Stockpile Material once it is placed and compacted.
