Questions and Answers

1) How is the backhaul to be packaged for transport? Several options were discussed to include stacking of shorter materials inside loads, banding and tyvek wrapped. Concern was the short pieces staying with the load during backhaul. Recommendation that tread material be left on boards to provide additional friction.

2) Who will cut danger trees and how will danger trees be identified? Contractor will need to identify which trees need to be removed and the Forest Service will remove up to 30 trees. If more trees are to be removed it will be the contractor’s responsibility.

3) How much lumber will be going in? Maximum of 5 loads of lumber.

4) What will the 50 loads noted in the Base Bid of other materials and tools consist of? Tools and materials loaded in helicopter bags. Government Inspector will notify Contractor Representative of target location for loads other than gravel.

5) Will the location of the staging area require transportation of loads across Revilla Road and provide necessary flaggers? Yes, loads will have to be transported across Revilla Road. It is the contractor’s responsibility to furnish all notices and procedures required by law, regulation or good industry practice, to perform activities associated with this contract. i.e.: safety warning signs, flaggers, Notice-to Airmen, Temporary Flight Restrictions, public notification, etc.
