Amendment 1 99-26 Road Visitor Facility repairs bid questions
1. the following questions and answers on this solicitation ARE:
1. Concerning the doors, will all or some of them need louvered vents, what type of locking hardware will be required; will a specific automatic closer be required?
ANSWER: Hardware for the doors will be to replace what is existing. This would be handles, locking mechanism, hinges and other accessories that would go with a new steel door. Door locks are the type that can lock from interior, but have a keyed access on exterior of door. All locks will need to be keyed with same key. If door currently has an automatic closer, then it will need to be replaced.
2. Can we work on all of the facilities at the same time or will we be required to keep some sites open for the public?
ANSWER: All restrooms can be worked on at the same time. At this point, the government will supply portable toilets to relieve the need for visitors to use restrooms at the locations. The schedule that the contractor will need to provide will be imperative to work out logistics between the government and contractor.
3. Will we be required to remove plumbing fixtures, hand dryers, stall partitions, etc. to complete the interior painting.
ANSWER: Typical industrial standards for this type of work would be to remove these fixtures. For these restrooms, the government would like all fixtures removed except for partitions. Partitions can remain but need to be prepped before painting to ensure a quality product.
4. Is there any stain or finish on the wakepish warming hut? Are you asking for WOODguard and the top coat sealer or just WOODguard?
ANSWER: Yes, there was stain that was applied to the warming hut many years ago. With the age of what is existing, the government feels that removal of deleterious material with pressure washing and then application of the sealer will be adequate to protect the exterior of the structure.
5. What is the surface that will need to be painted on interiors?
ANSWER: A site visit is crucial for this information, but there are several restrooms that have a plastic interior. The plastic interior surfaces will need to be pressure washed but not painted. For all other surfaces (wood and concrete) the work would include pressure washing and repainting.
6. What is the time allowed for this contract? Parts of the contract say 30 days while others say 60 days.
ANSWER: 60 days from notice to proceed. This is due to the type of work, submittals and distance.
