Picnic Table Specifications Please see attached pictures and rough sketches General Picnic tables consist of 8’ long tops w/ 7’ long benches. Benches and Table top are comprised of 4” x 12” doug fir planks. These should be treated/painted with a natural colored stain.

Supporting the table are pressure treated 6” x 6” legs and cross supports, as well as pressure treated 4” x 4” posts holding together the table top and 4x4 cross supports stopping lateral movement on the legs (connected to the very center of the table top).

Bolt locations 6x6 cross members are attached to the legs using (8) 3/8” x 7.5” carriage bolts. (see pictures).

Table top is bolted down with a total of 12…3/8” x 7” carriage bolts.

Angled 4x4 cross members connecting to the table top at the center are bolted using 2…3/8” x 7” carriage bolts and then 2…3/8” x 6.5” carriage bolts.

3/8” x 7’ carriage bolts are then used at the other end where they attach to the 6x6 cross member/leg support.

Where the legs connect to the table top, 3/8” x 8” carriage bolts are used. A total of 8 required.

Benches are connected using 3/8” x 9” bolts.

Total bolts needed / table: 163/8” x 7” carriage bolts
83/8” x 7.5” carriage bolts
43/8” x 8” carriage bolts
83/8” x 9” carriage bolts

Plans call for the length of bolts indicated, however we would prefer the builder use either shorter length bolts and inlay them or grind off excess bolt head in order to protect the public from scraping their legs on the bolt heads when sitting on the table. Also, note that the pictures of the Pro-Build tables have the 6x6 cross support for the legs on the outside of the legs, while Perma-Post moved these cross supports to the inside of the table legs. Having the cross supports on the inside of the legs appears to work better, so we would prefer this method.
