Questions/Answers/Clarifications through 10 May 2009
1. What is the rated capacity for the Trestle Bridge?
The load rating has not been calculated for the trestle. A bridge inspection on 10-
30-2008 did not find any significant structural deficiencies and did not recommend re-rating the bridge.
2. Is water available at any of the work site locations?
There is a creek below the trestle and use would have to be coordinated and approved by the District as part of the pre-work with the awarded Contractor.
3. Are there any restrictions related to work hours?
Davis-Bacon applies and work requiring inspection that is planned for weekend/holiday days will be in the schedule and pre-approved by the
Contracting Officer.
4. The quantities of the cable for the hand rail does not add up to the number of rails shown on drawing Sheet 7 of 11, please verify the quantity.

5. Under which bid item to the posts for the hand rail get paid?
Item 556(1)

The specifications do allow disposal of scaled rock and ballast along the railroad right of way within 500 feet of tunnel openings and the ends of the bridge.
Storage and stockpiling may be done within those areas.
7. Where is the anticipated discharge location for processed water produced during the course of the work?
AGAR 452.236-74 states that operations shall be conducted to prevent silting and muddying of surface waters.
8. Do you anticipate any potential over/under runs in the quantities? If they do occur how will they be handled?
Refer to FAR 52.211-18
9. At Bent #9 there is an anchor bolt that needs to be replaced, is this bolt in place? In reference to the anchor bolt at Bent #9, what is the length of the bolt?
The bolt is to be assumed sheared off and in place, the length is not known.
