B-2 - NOTE: Payment for bond premiums in accordance with Clause 52.232-5, Payments under Fixed-Price Construction Contracts, shall not be in addition to the contract price. Include bond payments under 151.01 Mobilization. Payment will be made on actual work performed as described in FP-03 109.01 unless otherwise noted. The above pay items are contract quantities unless noted.

B- 3 Quote on all items. Only quotes to the nearest cent will be accepted.

B- 4 Written Acceptance Any contract resulting from this solicitation will require written acceptance within 10 days of receipt by the Contractor.

B- 5 Basis of Award

One award will be made. Offer of award will be made to the Quoter whose quote, as determined by the Contracting Officer, provides the best value to the Government, considering but not limited to, such factors as price, past performance, and capability to accomplish this type of work. The Technical Proposal will be used as part of this evaluation.

Use the following for your Technical Proposal:

Technical Proposal

1. Record of past performance of the firm, supervisor, and employees: List and briefly describe previous contracts of a similar nature completed within the last 5 years, and supply names and current phone numbers of those contacts.

2. Production Schedule (work plan): Address who, what, where, when and how you plan to do the work, from beginning to end as stated in the Statement of Work and Specifications. Include both overall time frame and time frames for each phase of construction as required. Include erosion control measures and safety for employees and traffic. Briefly summarize any proposed changes to the plans or specifications that would prove beneficial from a cost or technical standpoint and provide at least equal performance and appearance.

3. Experience and qualifications of the supervisor, lead employees, and proposed subcontractors: For each, list relevant licenses, certifications and experience in the type of work to be done under this contract. If none, list similar projects where experience could be applied to this kind of job and briefly explain how the experience relates to the type of work to be done under this contract.

PART I - THE SCHEDULE

SECTION C - DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS/STATEMENT OF WORK

C-1 - PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND LOCATION

Description of Work: The intent of the contract is to remove and replace an existing corrugated steel pipe at a tributary to Little Slate Creek.

This project includes removing and disposing an existing culvert, structure excavation, backfilling, compacting, furnishing and installing a structural plate arch culvert, furnishing and installing precast footings, riprap placement, and hauling and placing roadway surfacing. The precise details of performing the work are not stipulated except as considered essential for the successful completion of the work. Furnish all labor, material, equipment, tools, transportation, and supplies necessary to complete the work according to the contract.

(b) Project Location Little Slate Creek at Road No. 221, MP 43.5 in the Nez Perce National Forest. The structure is located in the Salmon River Ranger District in Section 10, T. 25 N., R. 3 E., Idaho County, Idaho.

(c) Price Range The Government’s estimate for this project is between $100,000 and $250,000.

(d) Pre-Bid Tour None

(e) Pre-Bid Conference None

(f) Start Work The count of contract time shall begin on the date of award and the work shall proceed in accordance with the Contractor’s approved work schedule.

(g) Period of Performance (See Part I, Section F, Clause 52.212-3)

101.04 Definitions.

Delete the following definitions and substitute the following:

Bid Schedule--The Schedule of Items.

Bridge--No definition.

Contractor--The individual or legal entity contracting with the Government for performance of prescribed work. In a timber sale contract, the contractor is the “purchaser”.

Culvert--No definition.

Right-of-Way--A general term denoting (1) the privilege to pass over land in some particular line (including easement, lease, permit, or license to occupy, use, or traverse public or private lands), or (2) Real property necessary for the project, including roadway, buffer areas, access, and drainage areas.

Add the following:

Adjustment in Contract Price--“Equitable adjustment,” as used in the Federal Acquisition Regulations, or “construction cost adjustment,” as used in the Timber Sale Contract, as applicable.

Road Order--An order affecting and controlling traffic on roads under Forest Service jurisdiction. Road Orders are issued by a designated Forest Officer under the authorities of 36 CFR, part 260.

Schedule of Items--A schedule in the contract that contains a listing and description of construction items, quantities, units of measure, unit price, and amount.

Utilization Standards--The minimum size and percent soundness of trees described in the specifications to determine merchantable timber.

103 - Scope of Work

103.01 Intent of Contract. Delete this subsection and replace with the following:

Tributary to Little Slate Creek 221-43.5

The intent of the contract is to remove and replace an existing corrugated steel pipe at a tributary to Little Slate Creek at Road No. 221, MP 43.5 in the Nez Perce National Forest. The structure is located in the Salmon River Ranger District in Section 10, T. 25 N., R. 3 E., Idaho County, Idaho.

This project includes removing and disposing an existing culvert, structure excavation, backfilling, compacting, furnishing and installing a structural plate arch culvert, furnishing and installing precast footings, riprap placement, and hauling and placing roadway surfacing. The precise details of performing the work are not stipulated except as considered essential for the successful completion of the work. Furnish all labor, material, equipment, tools, transportation, and supplies necessary to complete the work according to the contract.

Delete the remaining subsections in this Section.

104 - Control of Work

Deletions

Delete Sections 104.02, and 104.04.

Add the following subsection:

104.06 Use of Roads by Contractor

The Contractor is authorized to use roads under the jurisdiction of the Forest Service for all activities necessary to complete this contract, subject to the limitations and authorizations designated in the Road Order(s) or described in the contract, when such use will not damage the roads or national forest resources, and when traffic can be accommodated safely.

105 - Control of Material

105.02 Material Sources

Add the following before the first paragraph.

Sources have been designated for this project as follows:

Riprap Source – Contractor Furnished – There is no Government source for riprap on this project.

Crushed Aggregate Source – Government Furnished – A Government source for crushed aggregate surfacing is located at the Adams Creek pit located in Section 26, T27N, R3E on Forest Road 221.

Waste Site – Government Furnished – A waste site for unsuitable or excess material, if necessary, will be identified by the CO within 1 mile of the project site. All other materials designated for removal and disposal must be disposed of away from Forest Lands.

Add the following to section (b) Contractor-located sources.

Prior to any pit development or use of materials, the Contractor shall provide to the CO a State certification that the pit site is free of noxious weed as listed on the "All States Noxious Weeds List”.

105.05 Use of Material Found in the Work.

Delete 105.05 (a) and (b) and the last sentence of the second paragraph and substitute the following:

Materials produced or processed from Government lands in excess of the quantities required for performance of this contract are the property of the Government. The Government is not obligated to make reimbursement for the cost of producing these materials.

106 - Acceptance of Work

106.07 Delete

Delete subsection 106.07.

107 - Legal Relations and Responsibility to the Public

107.02 Protection and Restoration of Property and Landscape.

Add the following:

Work within the wetted perimeter of streams will be allowed only as specified in the approved 124 permit.

107.05 Responsibility for Damage Claims.

Delete the entire subsection.

107.06 Contractor’s Responsibility for Work.

Delete the following from the first paragraph.

“except as provided in Subsection 106.07”.

107.09 Legal Relationship of the Parties.

Delete the entire subsection.

107.10 Environmental Protection.

Add the following:

Design and locate equipment repair shops, stationary refueling sites, or other facilities to minimize the potential and impacts of hazardous material spills on Government land.

Before beginning any work, submit a Hazardous Spill Plan. List actions to be taken in the event of a spill. Incorporate preventive measures to be taken, such as the location of mobile refueling facilities, storage and handling of hazardous materials, and similar information. Immediately notify the CO of all hazardous material spills. Provide a written narrative report form no later than 24 hours after the initial report and include the following:

· Description of the item spilled (including identity, quantity, manifest number, and other identifying information).

· Whether amount spilled is EPA or state reportable, and if so whether it was reported, and to whom.

· Exact time and location of spill including a description of the area involved.

· Containment procedures.

· Summary of any communications the Contractor had with news media, Federal, state and local regulatory agencies and officials, or Forest Service officials.

· Description of clean-up procedures employed or to be employed at the site including final disposition and disposal location of spill residue.

When available provide copies of all spill related clean up and closure documentation and correspondence from regulatory agencies.

The Contractor is solely responsible for all spills or leaks that occur during the performance of this contract. Clean up spills or leaks to the satisfaction of the CO and in a manner that complies with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

108 - Prosecution and Progress

108 Delete.

Delete Section 108 in its entirety.

109 - Measurement and Payment 109 Deletions Delete the following entire subsections:

(b) Contract quantity.

Add the following:

Contract quantities will be adjusted only when there are errors in the original design of 15% or more.

Change the following:

“(b) Cubic yard” to “(c) Cubic yard”.

Add the following definition:

(p) Thousand Board Feet (Mbf). 1,000 board feet based on nominal widths, thickness, and extreme usable length of each piece of lumber or timber actually incorporated in the job. For glued laminated timber, 1,000 board feet based on actual width, thickness, and length of each piece actually incorporated in the job.

(q) Actual Quantity (AQ). Actual quantities are determined from measurements of completed work.

151 - Mobilization

151.01 Description

Add the following at the end of the last sentence:

Work also includes cleaning of all equipment used at the project site. Clean all construction equipment prior to entry on the project site. Remove all dirt, plant parts and material that may carry noxious weed seeds into the area. Only construction equipment inspected by the Forest Service will be allowed to operate within the project area. The contractor must provide a minimum of 24 hours notification prior to inspection. All inspections shall be conducted off Forest Service lands. Treat subsequent move-ins of equipment the same as the initial move-in. Clean truck beds and dump boxes hauling to the project site prior to entering the work area.

152 – Construction Survey and Staking 152.01(a) Personnel.

Add the following:

Conduct all construction staking under the direction of a licensed professional engineer or land surveyor who is closely associated and familiar with construction staking.

153 – Contractor Quality Control Add the following.

153.07. Project Submittals

At a minimum the contractor shall provide project submittals as shown on the below Submittal Log. Submittal requirements are listed in the Standard Specifications, Supplemental Specifications, and Plans.

Add the following project specific requirements:

The contractor will be allowed to close through traffic on Forest Road No. 221 during construction under the schedule specified in the contract documents.

Give the CO at least 21 days advance written notice prior to any road closure period to allow public notice of the closure by the Forest Service.

As a part of the sign plan for the culvert replacement, the Contractor will be required to furnish and install advance road closed signs at the junction of Road 221 and Road 394 both north and south of the project or as directed by the CO.

Delete the following from the last sentence of the last paragraph:

157 - Soil Erosion Control

157.02 Materials

Add the following:

Provide bales, wattles, logs and rolls from a certified noxious weed free source.

157.03 General.

Delete the first two paragraphs and replace with the following:

Submit an Erosion Control Plan detailing permanent and temporary control measures to minimize erosion and sedimentation during and after construction in accordance with the plans and storm water permits. Do not modify the type, size, or location of any control or practice without approval. Submit the erosion control plan proposal at least 7 days before operations begin to the CO for approval.

Reflect in the Erosion Control Plan special concerns and measures necessary to protect resources and government improvements. Include:

(a) The construction activities and sequence of implementation relating to specific erosion control measures.

(b) The location and type of permanent controls to be implemented during construction.

(c) The location and type of temporary controls to be implemented during construction.

(d) For work in stream channels with running water a detailed dewatering plan.

(e) For work in stream channels without flowing water describe level of ground and vegetative disturbance and measures to reduce potential sediment delivery.

(f) Description of the monitoring plan.

Add the following to the third paragraph:

Upon completion of construction at the site, remove all temporary erosion control devices, dewatering materials and equipment from Government property.

157.08 Water Crossings.

Add the following:

At any channel crossing where there is running water, dewater by rerouting water flow around the site before and during excavation and embankment operations.

203 - Removal of Structures and Obstructions

203.05 Disposing of Material.

Modify this subsection as follows:

(a) Remove from project. Add the following:

All materials designated for removal become the property of the Contractor and are to be disposed of by removing off of Forest Service Lands in accordance with all local, state and federal requirements.

(b) Burn. Delete this section.

(c) Bury. Delete this section.

Add the following:

(e) Placing Slash on Embankment Slopes. Place construction slash on completed embankment slopes or scatter as directed by the CO to reduce soil erosion. Place construction slash as flat as practicable on the completed slope. Priority for use of available slash is for: (1) through fills; (2) insides of curves; and (3) ditch relief outlets. All slash material not suitable for embankment slopes shall be disposed off Forest Service Lands in accordance with all local, state and federal requirements or as approved by the CO.

208 - Structure Excavation and Backfill for Selected Major Structures

208.04 General.

Add the following:

Use all suitable material in the construction of the roadway embankment and for structural backfill. Field drain and dry excessively wet material that is otherwise suitable for embankment before placement. Place and shape unsuitable or excess material at designated sites shown on the drawings or as directed by the CO.

251 – Riprap

251.01 Description

Delete the first sentence and add the following:

This work consists of furnishing, hauling, and placing of riprap for bank protection, slope protection, drainage structures, rock weirs, erosion control, and other features shown on the plans.

Add the following:

251.04(a) Grade Control Structure (Rock Weir) Furnish riprap in accordance with FSSS 105 and as shown on the drawings. Place or rearrange individual rocks by mechanical methods to obtain a shape as shown on the drawings.

Fill all voids left during placement of grade control structures adjacent to concrete footings or corrugate pipes with excess structural excavation material.

All grade control structure locations must be approved by the CO prior to excavation or placement of rock.

251.04(b) Fish Rest Stop Rock Furnish sound, durable rock that is native to the vicinity of the work or is similar in texture and color to the native rock and has been proven satisfactory for the intended use.

Furnish rocks according to dimensions as shown on the plans.

251.07 Acceptance

Delete the fourth sentence and add the following:

Structure excavation and backfill will be evaluated under Section 208.

272 - Geocell

Description

272.01

This work consists of constructing geocell abutment stabilization at each abutment using a cellular confinement system such as Presto Geoweb Cellular Confinement System or Webtec TerraCell in accordance with the plans and manufacturers recommendations.

Materials

272.02 Requirements. Ensure that material conforms to specifications in the following subsections:

Construction Requirements

272.03 General. Perform the work specified in Section 208 or 209. Use ditches, grading or similar methods to prevent surface runoff that may occur during inclement weather from ponding in the foundation excavation.

272.04 Storage and Handling of Material. During shipment and storage, wrap geotextile materials in heavy-duty protective covering. Protect the material from mud, soil, dust, debris and sunlight prior to installation.

272.05 Geotextile Installation. Place the geotextile according to Section 207. Have the surface approved by the CO prior to placing geotextile.

Sew or overlap adjacent strips a minimum of 12” at joints. Insert securing pins through both strips of overlapped geotextile at minimum intervals of 3 feet, but no closer than 2 inches to each edge, to prevent the geotextile from being displaced.

Have the installed geotextile approved by the CO prior to setting the geocells.

272.06 Geocell Installation. Furnish the CO with product literature and certification as required in Section 106.03 for review and approval 7 days prior to installation. When requested by the CO, furnish a sample of the geocell from each lot for verification testing.

Place the geocell sections directly on the prepared subgrade. Expand the geocell sections into position at the grades and lines as shown on the plans. Hold the expanded geocell sections with suitable “stretcher frames”, steel stakes driven inside selected outer cell walls, or other similar methods as allowed by the manufacturer prior to filling. Ensure that the individual cells have expanded to the minimum dimensions required by the manufacturer. If necessary field cut sections as per the manufacturer’s recommendations to the lines shown on the plans.

Connect geocell panels in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

272.07 Infill Placement. Furnish the CO with the manufacturer’s specific recommendations for backfilling 7 days prior to placement of the geocells.

Place coarse granular backfill meeting Subsection 703.03 into the expanded cells with equipment appropriate for the site conditions such as a backhoe or a front-end loader. Do not drop infill material more than 3 feet to avoid damage or displacement of the cell walls.

Overfill the geocell cells and level to a minimum of 2 inches above the top of the cell walls. A front-end loader may be used to place the infill provided that it only traffics above geocell sections that have been filled and covered with the minimum 2 inches of additional material. Compact the infill material with a vibratory plate compacter. Operate compaction equipment over the full width of the geocell. Make at least three complete passes or until visible deformation of the infill ceases. Grade the surface to be ½ inch above the top of the cells. Ensure that the cell walls are not exposed after fine grading is completed.

Use the geocell manufacturer’s specific recommendations for backfilling if they are more stringent than stated above.

272.08 Acceptance. Geotextile will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02 and 714.01.

Material for geocell will be evaluated under Subsections 106.2 and 106.03.

Granular backfill material will be evaluated under Section 106.02 and 106.04.

Measurement

272.09 Method. Measure the items listed in the bid schedule according to Subsection 109.02 and the following.

Measure geocell by the square yard in place, exclusive of wastage.

Payment

272.10 Basis. The accepted quantities will be paid for at the contract price per unit of measurement for the Section 272 pay items listed in the bid schedule. Payment will be full compensation for the work prescribed in this Section. See Subsection 109.05.

The cost for furnishing and placing the granular backfill required in Sections 207, 208, and 209 for geocell infill is incidental to this pay item and no separate payment will be made.

The cost for furnishing and placing geotextile for the geocell installation is incidental to this pay item and no separate payment will be made.

308 - Minor Crushed Aggregate Delete section 308 in its entirety and replace with the following:

Description

308.01 This work consists of placing Government furnished aggregate or furnishing and placing crushed aggregate for bedding, backfill and roadway aggregate course.

Material

Construction Requirements

308.03 Preparing Surface. Prepare the roadway surface on which aggregate course is placed as shown on the plans.

308.04 Placing Crushed Aggregate.

(a) Roadway aggregate. Mix the aggregate and adjust the moisture content to obtain a uniform mixture with a moisture content suitable for compaction. Spread and shape the mixture on the prepared surface in a uniform layer.

Do not place the mixture in a layer exceeding 6 inches in compacted thickness. When more than one layer is necessary, compact each layer according to Subsection 308.05(a) before placing the next layer.

(b) Bedding and backfill aggregate. Place and shape the mixture in layers that, when compacted, do not exceed 6 inches in depth.

308.05 Compacting and Finishing Crushed Aggregate.

(a) Roadway aggregate. Adjust the moisture content of the material to a level suitable for compaction. Operate compaction equipment over the full width of each layer until visible deformation of the layer ceases. Make at least three complete passes.

Blade the surface of each layer during the compaction operations to remove irregularities and produce a smooth, even surface.

Ensure that the thickness and width of the compacted aggregate conform to the dimensions SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS, and that measurements on the compacted aggregate meet the following criteria:

(a) The maximum variation from the compacted specified thickness is ½ inch.

(b) The compacted thickness is not consistently above or below the specified thickness and the average thickness of 4 random measurements for any ½ mile of road segment is within + ¼ inch of the specified thickness.

(c) The maximum variation from the specified width will not exceed +12 inches at any point.

(d) The compacted width is not consistently above the specified width and the average of any four random measurements along any ½ mile of road segment is within +4 inches of the specified width.

(b) Bedding and backfill aggregate. Compact in 6 inch lifts by using a Forest Service approved mechanical compactor until no visible deformation is observed over the entire area of aggregate.

308.06 Acceptance. Crushed aggregate will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02 and 106.03. Furnish a production certification including gradation and quality properties for each source.

Construction of roadway aggregate courses will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02 and 106.04. Compaction will be evaluated under Section 106.04.

Placement of bedding and backfill aggregate will be evaluated under Subsection 106.02 and Section 209.

Preparation of the surfaces on which crushed aggregate is placed will be evaluated under Section 303 and 209 as applicable.

Measurement

308.07 Measure the Section 308 items listed in the bid schedule according to Subsection 109.02 and the following as applicable.

Measure crushed aggregate by the cubic yard in-place on the road.

Measure width horizontally to include the top of aggregate width including designed widenings.

Measure the length horizontally along the centerline of the roadway.

Payment

308.08 The accepted quantities will be paid at the contract price per unit of measurement for the Section 308 pay item listed in the bid schedule. Payment will be full compensation for the work prescribed in this Section. See Subsection 109.05.

553A – Precast Concrete Structures

Description

553A.01 Work. Construct precast concrete members. In addition, manufacture, test materials for, transport, store, and install all precast concrete portions except piling, and perform all necessary grouting, welding, or other connections. Furnish precast concrete members complete and in place, including all concrete reinforcing steel and incidentals connected therewith.

Commercial 1, Precast Concrete Products (no prestressed reinforcing)

National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA)

Precast

Submit a copy of the transmittal letter of the latest PCI or NPCA inspection/certification with the shop drawings.

In lieu of PCI/NPCA certification, Contractor shall retain a professional engineer to provide quality assurance for the work by inspecting and certifying in writing the concrete members are constructed in accordance to the specification and shall include but not limited to:

a) Shop drawing review.

b) Concrete member dimensions.

c) Concrete mix design.

d) Aggregate sources and test results.

e) Steel reinforcing placement.

f) Concrete curing and strength test results.

g) Concrete material certifications.

h) Placement mixing, delivery and sampling.

Certification of the above shall be received by the CO prior to shipment and installation at the job site.

Perform all sampling, testing, and inspection necessary to ensure quality control of the component materials and the concrete. Sample and test for quality control and acceptance testing in accordance with the AASHTO or ASTM test methods prescribed in Section 552.

Maintain adequate records of all inspections and tests. Keep records that indicate the nature and number of observations made, the number and type of deficiencies found, the quantities approved and rejected, and the nature of any corrective action taken.

Construction 553A.03 Performance. Construct precast concrete structural members in accordance with the following sections and subsections, as applicable:

553A.05 Handling, Transporting, & Erecting. Provide additional reinforcement, as needed, to meet the requirements of handling, transporting, and erecting precast members.

553A.06 Acceptance. Reinforcing steel, anchor devices, elastomeric bearings, and material for concrete and grout will be evaluated under Subsection 106.03. Furnish production certifications for hydraulic cement, and reinforcing steel.

Concrete for precast concrete members will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02, 106.03, and 106.04.

Construction of precast concrete members will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02 and 106.04.

Reinforcing steel will be evaluated under Section 554.

Falsework and forms will be evaluated under Section 562.

Measurement

553A.07 Measure the Section 553A items listed in the bid schedule according to Subsection 109.02 and the following as applicable.

Do not measure reinforcing steel, concrete, anchorages, plates, nuts, and other material contained within or attached to the unit for precast concrete structural members.

622 - Rental Equipment

622.02 Rental Equipment

Delete the first two sentences of the first paragraph and add the following:

Provide equipment of the type listed in the Schedule of Items. Provide equipment of at least the minimum size needed to efficiently perform the work. Submit the model number of the equipment to the CO for approval before delivery to the project site. Equipment shall be no more than 15 years old and shall be reasonably free of leaks and other mechanical deficiencies.

The Government reserves the right to reduce or eliminate entirely the work under this item with no adjustment in contract unit price.

625 – Turf Establishment

625.03 General.

Delete the first sentence and add the following:

Apply turf establishment to portions of slopes, ditches, waste areas, and other disturbed areas within 14 days after being constructed to template lines unless otherwise specified in writing by the C.O.

625.04 Preparing Seedbed.

Delete the second sentence of the first paragraph.

Delete the third paragraph.

625.05 Watering

Delete the entire paragraph.

625.06 Fertilizing.

Delete the entire subsection and add the following.

Apply fertilizer having a chemical analysis as listed in (c) below by the following methods. Apply seed and fertilizer in one application.

(a) Dry Method. Apply the fertilizer with approved power driven seeders, drills, fertilizer spreaders or other mechanical equipment. Hand operated methods are satisfactory on areas inaccessible to mechanical equipment.

(b) Hydraulic method. Use hydraulic-type equipment capable of providing a uniform application using water as the carrying agent. Add fertilizer to the slurry and mix before adding seed.

(c) Chemical analysis. Apply fertilizer at the rate of 100 pounds per acre. Apply fertilizer having the following chemical analysis.

Fertilizer having a different chemical analysis may be used if approved in advance by the CO.

625.07 Seeding.

725 - Miscellaneous Material

Add the following section:

725.40 High-Strength Nonshrink Grout

Furnish grout that is packaged and ready for use with the addition of water at the construction site. Ensure that each bag is stamped to show the last date on which it may be used. Use grout that consists of a hydraulic cementitious system, graded and processed natural fine aggregate, and additional technical components such that the product meets the following conditions:

(a) Free of inorganic accelerators, including chlorides.

(b) Free of oxidizing catalysts.

(c) Free of gas-producing agents.

(d) When mixed to 130 percent flow on flow table (ASTM C 230 at 10 drops), it does not reduce in linear dimension when tested in accordance with ASTM C157. Take measurements at 72 hours and 7 days.

(e) Produces no bleeding for the first 2 hours after mixing when mixed to 130 percent flow on flow table (ASTM C 230 at 10 drops), as tested in accordance with ASTM C232.

(f) Has a minimum strength as follows when tested in accordance with ASTM C 109:

(1) After 72 hours, 25 MPa (3500 psi).

(2) At 7 days, 40 MPa (6000 psi).

(3) After 28 days, 50 MPa (7200 psi).

Provide performance characteristics at 115 to 120 percent flow on flow table (ASTM C 230 at 10 drops).

(g) It must be designed, as stated by the manufacturer, to be mixed, placed, and cured at atmospheric temperatures of 5O C to 30O C (40O F to 85O F). Submit products proposed for use for approval by the CO and accompany them with manufacturer’s submittals substantiating all requirements in this subsection, including graphs or charts showing the time, temperature, and humidity requirements for curing to achieve the specified grout strengths; and recommendations for storage, mixing, application, and curing procedures.

As specified as grout on the contract plans, the following products meet the above requirements.

1. MASTERFLOW 928 GROUT, manufactured by Chemrex.

2. CRYSTEX GROUT, manufactured by L&M Construction Chemicals, Inc.

3. CEMENT ALL, manufactured by CTS Cement Manufacturing Co.

4. SURE-GRIP HIGH PERFORMANCE GROUT manufactured by Dayton Superior.

725.41 Mortar

Furnish mortar that is packaged and ready for use with the addition of water at the construction site. Ensure that each bag is stamped to show the latest date on which it may be used. Use mortar that consists of a cementitious system made up of:

(a) Natural aggregate, 3/8” maximum size, that meets the requirements specified in ASTM C 33 except for grading. Accomplish grading by blending sieve sizes to obtain the optimum density.

(b) Metallic aggregate free from nonferrous material, soluble alkaline compounds, and visible rust.

(c) Water reducers, workability agents, air-entraining agents, and catalysts.

Blend the materials to minimize bleeding, increase workability, resist exposure to freeze-thaw cycles and deicing salts, and prevent shrinkage within and at the perimeter of the patch, keyway, or other area to be filled.

Ensure that the minimum compressive strength of the mortar, as tested by ASTM C 109 for a 3” slump, is:

Submit products proposed for use to the CO for approval, and accompany them with the manufacturer’s submittals substantiating all requirements in this section, including (1) graphs or charts showing the time, temperature, humidity, and curing requirements to achieve mortar…
