Combined Synopsis Solicitation AG-0112-S-16-0018 Sitka Pellet Supply Page 6 of 8 PFI Wood Pellets are certified by the PFI North American Residential/Commercial Densified Fuel Standards Program. Below are the PFI Premium specifications required:

Additional Information Regarding Product:

To assure the consistent quality of densified fuel leaving the production facility, certified product must be packaged, stored, handled, transported, and/or delivered in a manner that will maintain the integrity of the densified fuel produced. The minimum requirements for certified densified fuel packaging, storage, handling, transport, and delivery are as follows:

a. Densified fuel must not be exposed to moisture, e.g., through contact with condensed water, rain or snow.

b. Wood pellets usually have a moisture content level of approximately 5- 10%. Pellets tend to lose their effectiveness and crumble and thus become unusable if they are exposed to moisture or damp surfaces, therefore it is essential that the wood pellets remain dry for the entire transit, storage, and delivery cycle.

c. Densified fuel must be free from foreign material. Any foreign objects can clog the suction probe.

d. Equipment to be cleaned if necessary to prevent contamination.

e. Contractor shall clean up any solid fuel spilled during supply.

f. Certified densified fuel of one grade must not be allowed to co-mingle with densified fuel product of another grade or with non-certified product.

g. Supply will be accepted when the pellets are loaded in the pellet storage bin.

C.3.1.2. Operations Anticipated monthly usage schedule is as follows:

There is no space dedicated to contractor for storage of fuel supply or equipment due to space constraints at the site. Contractor shall store pellets in a dry area. The pellets may be stored at an offsite location if necessary at contractor’s expense.

Contractor shall be given a key to the pellet storage bin room and will be able to monitor and load pellets at their convenience, so long as pellet loading does not impede vehicular or pedestrian traffic.

Snow plowing does not occur after 3:30 p.m. or on weekends. Contractor must consider the possibility of snow and plan its transport and deliveries accordingly.
