Questions and Answer for Edna Bay Road Repair, AG-0109-S-13-0011
1. Is HDPE culvert acceptable?
A. Yes
2. The vicinity map shows an area circled near the school. No culvert locations are indicated. I assume they will be inside the circle?
A. Yes, all locations are within ½ mile of the school.
3. Do we need permission is needed to cross some private land?
A. The road is a National Forest Land System Road.
4. Since pit run rock is the only available rock in Edna Bay whether private or salvaged from USFS pits, will the rock for culvert installation need to be graded/sorted or carefully chosen and picked over as is common in community culverts?
A. Culvert backfill material will need to be sorted, which is typical when using pit run material.
5. How wide is the USFS easement and is there any info as to where the road lays in that easement? I guess the question is, if a machine is parked off the roadway etc. how does one know whether they are trespassing?
A. The allowable work area will be confined to the existing roadway, which is defined as the area that includes the ditch and cutslope and extends to the toe of the opposite fill slope, plus whatever area is needed to install the culverts. Equipment shall at all times be operated and /or parked on the existing shot rock road or available turnouts.
