About this file
This Overhaul Description document details the Coast Guard's requirements for overhauling a Core Assembly Fluid Heater (Stock Number 4420-01-496-9702, Part Number 70A83B10108) manufactured by API HEAT TRANSFER INC. The overhaul requires a comprehensive inspection to determine repair needs, with a condition report and cost proposal to be submitted to the Coast Guard Contracting Officer. The contractor must refurbish the fluid heater to restore its original design and performance specifications, using genuine API HEAT TRANSFER INC. parts, and perform pressure tests and standard production inspections.
The document specifies that each fluid heater must be individually packed in a wooden box, marked with stock number, item name, part number, and government order number. The recommended source is American Precision Industries Inc. (BASCO Division) in Buffalo, NY. The overhaul is subject to standard manufacturer's warranty, with the contractor guaranteeing the item against defects for up to two years after delivery. The estimated cost for the overhaul is not to exceed $21,080, and government acceptance will be made at destination by a representative who will verify no transit damage and conformance to packaging requirements.
