1 Cook Brothers Inc.
What is the intended process on sequence of work for the bathrooms by floor?
If base bid is approved only, can all be demoed at the same time and worked performed at the same in all, or is it selective based on sequence?
Same for the others in the alternates?
The intended process for the sequence of Work is listed in the Add Alternates on sheet G002 of Exhibit L – Technical Requirements. It is anticipated that the Add Alternates will be in the sequential order as listed. Work will begin on the second floor and move up to the top floor as indicated in the drawings. The intent is for Work to be completed floor by floor, completing one wing at a time.
Example: If Add Alternates 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, and 2c, and 3a are awarded, Work would proceed as follows:
Contractor will start on west wing of the second floor, and replace floor and base finishes, plumbing fixtures as noted, and address the ADA compliance improvements.
Then perform the same Work on the east wing. Once completed the Contractor would begin Work on the third floor. Since Add Alternate 3b and 3c was not awarded in this example, the ADA modifications would not be done on the third and fourth floors.
2 Cook Brothers Inc.
Reuse of partitions and door frames that are rusted. When the floor is removed, most of the frames are rusted at the base.
Are we to consider this in the bid or is that to be determined as a change order if needed per bathroom?
The Contractor will be responsible for removal and reinstallation of existing partitions and frames as required for installation of new floor and referenced on sheet A401, Sections D08a and D09a, sheet A402, Section D09b, sheet A403, Sections D09c and D10c of Exhibit L – Technical Requirements.
See Change No. 1.
3 Cook Brothers Inc.
Who makes the determination on the re-use of partitions and fastening system to the flooring and ceilings?
Partition replacement will only be engaged if safe installation using the existing components cannot be achieved. Refer to Exhibit L- Technical Requirements, Question

Sheet A401, General Demolition Notes 2, 7, 10, and Enlarged Key Plan Note D06.
See also Change No. 1.
4 Cook Brothers Inc.
If door jambs are decayed at the base, are the entire doors and frames to be replaced and painted?
Refer to Exhibit L- Technical Requirements, Sheet A401, General Demolition Note 7.
The intent is that door frames are to remain. If door frames are damaged by Contractor during construction, they should be repaired as required. Contractors may wish to document the conditions prior to starting Work, but it is not required.
5 Cook Brothers Inc.
Is the removal and resetting of tubs and other plumbing fixtures required to be permitted and inspected?
Refer to Section B-7. Permits And Special Requirements.
Contractor is responsible for providing a level of service consistent with industry standards and complying with all governing laws and agencies during construction.
6 Cook Brothers Inc.
Are the built up sloped areas in the restrooms to be calculated in demo and reconstruction as current layout?
Refer to D02 under Base Bid on sheet A402 and A403, D07A under Add Alternate 1A on Sheet A402 and D07B under Add Alternate 1A on sheet A403 of Exhibit L – Technical Requirements.
Yes, the intent is to match existing slopes as best as possible while maintaining ADA & ACHA compliance.
Per A-3.1.1 of Standard Contract Part 2, during the Performance of the Work, if there is a conflict, error, or discrepancy, the Contractor shall so report this to the Project Manager and the Architect. Refer to the General Notes on sheet G002 of Exhibit L – Technical Requirements.

Is Sikafloor DecoDur Quartz UEF an acceptable flooring alternative?
The substitution is denied because a full system buildup of what is being proposed as a substitution was not specified. Currently the data submitted by the Contractor is too open ended and does not indicate which of the options are being included as part of the consideration for substitution.

Is Sherwin Williams Tilde-Clad High Solids Catalyzed Epoxy an acceptable alternative?
The epoxy systems that are specified are multilayer/multi-product systems. The system that is being proposed is a 2-layer topcoat application. This system is not acceptable, as it does not include the multilayer buildup of the specified systems, nor does it have low VOC.
9 D & E General Contractors
Who are the two epoxy companies for this project?
Refer to the Florida State Hospital Patient Bathroom Renovation per AHCA document, Division 9 Finishes, Section 09672 Resinous Flooring Specification, Part 2 Products, under Section 2.1 - Manufacturer's, Plexi-Chemi & Master Protective Coatings are listed.
It is the Vendor’s responsibility to review the specifications and drawings prior to submitting a bid.
