About this file

This document is Addendum #1 for RFP 00216 issued by Oakland University, concerning Individually Ventilated Cages, Racks, and Associated Parts-Accessories for Mice. The addendum provides a questions and answers (Q&A) section addressing key details of the procurement. Oakland University seeks 8-10 mouse racks, specifically double-sided racks, to be placed across multiple rooms (122/123/124/127/129/130/131/136/141/142/143/144/145/148/150). The university requires racks no longer than 70 inches to fit in their transport elevator, with a cage change frequency of approximately every two weeks.

The addendum clarifies several vendor inquiries, including rack dimensions, rack configuration, and quoting specifications. All racks will be double-sided to address cage-to-room capacity concerns. The university is not requesting logistics trolleys for cages or bottles, and vendors are to quote pricing per rack. The maximum rack length of 70 inches is specifically determined by the university's transport elevator constraints. The procurement aims to maximize housing capacity and increase biosecurity for approximately 2,000 rodents currently housed in 500 cages, with the goal of implementing new ventilated caging systems.

ADDENDUM #1

RFP 00216

Individually Ventilated Cages, Racks, and Associated Parts-Accessories for Mice

Q&A

1. Question: Can we get a drawing?

Answer: The room#s are as follows:

122/123/124/127/129/130/131/136/141/142/143/144/145/148/150 *Please note* At any time any rack could be placed in any one of these rooms as we are not setting up specific rooms.

2. Question: Do you want single sided or double sided rack?

Answer: Double sided

3. Question: Do you want us to quote per cage or per rack?

Answer: Per Rack

4. Question: Is a rack that is 70.47" long, too long - spec says no longer than 70"?

Answer: A half inch will not be an issue.

5. Question: Is there an anticipated changeout desired?

Answer: If speaking of cage change frequency (every two weeks) if something else vendor will need to clarify.

6. Question: Do you want us to quote you for logistics trolleys - both for cages and bottles?

Answer: No

7. Question: I see that the RFP is for 8-10 mouse racks. Is there a quantity breakdown for the specific rack size, such as, quantity of 160 double-sided cage racks and / or quantity of 70 single-sided cage racks?

Answer: All double sided as we are attempting to address cage to room capacity concers.

8. Question: Can there be a confirmation on the mouse rack dimensions in Section III, Number 10,b? I question the rack length being 70 inches, which I am not aware of for a double-sided 160 cage rack in the market, which are usually 81.4 inches or less.

Answer: The 70 inch length notation in the RFP is noting the Maximum length rack that fits in our transport elevator, while still allowing the doors to close, and is based on our current longest static rack which barely fits in the elevator.
