About this file
This Addendum One document issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services Division of Engineering and Contract Administration pertains to Request for Bid No. RFB-107-24 for FFA Cabin Renovations Phase 2 at the Department of Education facility in Hardinsburg, Kentucky (Breckinridge County). The project involves renovations to ten cabins located at 111 FFA Camp Road. The addendum clarifies and modifies specifications and drawings related to architectural, structural, and mechanical-electrical-plumbing (MEP) systems. Key clarifications include confirmation that all existing asbestos-containing floor tiles and adhesive will be removed by the state, specifications for epoxy floor color (standard gray without flakes) and mow strip width (18 inches), wood base trim specifications (2x6), and verification that existing fascia board is in good condition. The document provides detailed Cold-Formed Metal Framing specifications (Section 054000) covering exterior non-load-bearing wall furring materials, including 3/4" and 1-1/2" U-channels and 1-1/2" Z-furring channels with specific grades, coatings, and spacing requirements.
The addendum contains extensive electrical clarifications addressing panelboard installations, disconnect switches, and exit lighting fixtures. Notably, no new electrical feed will be installed from the transformer source; instead, the existing underground panelboard feed will be intercepted and transitioned above grade to a new 60-ampere, 2-pole fused disconnect switch connecting to the new panelboard. The electrical contractor is required to provide locking hasps with rivets for the electrical panelboard and padlocks with keys for interior panelboards and exterior disconnects. Additional requirements include connecting exit light fixtures with backup battery and exterior remote heads to an unswitched hot conductor from lighting circuit L1-1, with circuit L1-3 retained for smoke detectors only. The document specifies that spray cellulose insulation is not acceptable for wall and attic insulation and provides detailed fabrication, installation, and quality control requirements for all cold-formed steel framing components, including tolerances, fastening methods, and field inspection procedures.

Addendum 01 Date: 07 November 2023
THE BIDDING AND GENERAL DOCUMENTS, NOTES, AND DRAWINGS ARE CLARIFIED OR CHANGED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING. THE BIDDERS SHALL ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT OF THIS
ADDENDUM ON THE PROPOSAL FORM IN THE SPACE PROVIDED.
ARCHITECTURAL I TEMS:
G E N E R A L A R C H I T E C T U R A L I T E M S :
A1.1 Clarification: All existing floor tiles and adhesive in all ten cabins contain asbestos materials and will be removed by the state per General Conditions Article, 11.3 Hazardous Materials. Please price the documents with the assumption that all asbestos containing material (existing flooring and adhesive) will be removed by others (NIC).
A1.2 Is there any lead paint existing in the cabins? Unknown. The existing ceiling is to be painted.
The painted block gets covered by new materials. All demo items have poly/shellac finish.
See General Conditions Article, 11.3 Hazardous Materials.
A1.3 Clarification: All cabins have attic access panels in the ceiling just inside and above the door. Below are pictures of the attic space that are consistent of all ten cabins. Assume existing roof rafters are at 24” O.C.
A1.4 What is the color on the Epoxy Floors? Standard gray, no flakes.
A1.5 What is the width of the Mow Strip? 18” wide
A1.6 Will wood blocking be required between the block and the metal siding @ the outdoor HVAC unit support angle to carry the unit weight? THE SUPPORTS ARE PER THE
MANUFACTURER’S RECEOMMENDATIONS AND ARE TYPICALLY SECURED TO THE STUCTURE.
Assume solid 2x wood blocking installed behind the metal panels to secure Mech equipment supports. GC to coordinate with Mech contractor for size and location of blocking.
A1.7 Pages 1, 5, & 6 are missing from the Specification 054000 – Cold-Formed Metal Framing.
See attached full 054000 Specification. Pages 5 & 6 are intentionally blank.
A1.8 Clarification: Wood Base Trim shall be 2x6.
A1.9 Clarification: Assume existing fascia board (NIC) is in good condition.
A1.10 Is there to be any Tyvek Building Wrap behind the ¾” rigid insulation board? Yes, at surface of existing wood sheathing.
A1.11 Does the existing interior wood T&G wall panels have furring behind them in which it will need to be removed to construct the new 2x4 framing for the new plywood wall panels?
There are currently only two horizontal 2x4 behind the T&G panels. One at the top (ceiling) and one at the T.O. the CMU wall. They can likely be used as part of the new wall framing.
A1.12 Would Spray Cellulose Insulation be Acceptable for the wall & attic Insulation? No.
