About this file
This is Addendum One to Invitation to Bid No. RFB-89-27 issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Engineering and Contract Administration, for the 23085 AMLBAML AML Project in Pike County, Kentucky, dated October 20, 2026. The addendum provides clarifications and modifications to project specifications regarding drainage infrastructure components, specifically drop inlet boxes and pipe installations. The project requires the installation of drainage systems referencing Kentucky AML Standard Details 24-10-1 and 24-50-1. Key specifications include drop boxes with minimum 1-foot cover over pipe, 15-inch DWPP pipe at the road transitioning to 18-inch HDPE at the upper driveway section, vehicular-rated drop box grates, and field-fitted elevations to ensure positive drainage with a minimum 1% slope. The addendum confirms that both precast and cast-in-place drop box construction methods are acceptable, provided all specifications are met.
The addendum resolves a discrepancy in the bid schedule regarding pipe quantities, clarifying that the intent is to install 40 linear feet of 15-inch DWPP pipe as shown on the plans, despite the bid schedule initially listing 60 linear feet. The additional quantity will only be used if needed, with AML paying for actual quantities installed. All drop box elevations and culvert elevations will be field-fitted to accommodate site conditions and promote positive drainage, with final dimensions subject to engineer approval. No additional project-specific drawings or details are available beyond those referenced in the standard details.

Invitation to Bid No. RFB-89-27 For: 23085 AMLBAML AML Project Pike County, Kentucky
Susan Ward, Statewide Procurement Analyst II Division of Engineering and Contract Administration
The drawings reference Kentucky AML Standard Details 24-10-1 and 24-50-1. However, we have been unable to verify the specific dimensions and elevations for each structure.
Could you please clarify the following?
1. The required inside dimensions and overall depth of each drop inlet box.
2. The top or rim elevation for each structure.
3. The inlet and outlet pipe invert elevations.
4. The required pipe sizes, connection locations, and orientations.
5. Whether precast concrete structures are acceptable or if the boxes must be constructed in place.
6. Whether additional project-specific drawings or details are available for these structures.
We also noticed that the bid schedule lists 60 LF of 15-inch DWPP pipe, while the drainage plan notes 40 LF. Could you please confirm the correct quantity for bidding?
Response:
1. The standard minimum depth shown in 24-10-1 to allow for the 1’ minimum cover over the pipe should be adhered to. An inlet drop box deeper than the minimum is acceptable where positive drainage can still be achieved in the drainage system.
Alternate dimensions may be approved by the engineer.
2. Drop box elevations have not been measured and will be field fitted to promote positive drainage into the drop box from the intended source. Top elevations are intended to be at or below final ground level
3. Culvert elevations will be field fitted to promote positive drainage with a minimum 1% slope based on the final elevation of the drop structures and to achieve the necessary cover
4. Pipe sizes will be the 15” DWPP shown on the drawing at the road and 18” HDPE at the upper part of the driveway. The drop boxes will be placed such that pipe connections will be as close to perpendicular to the face as possible.
5. Precast or cast in place drop boxes are acceptable as long as all specifications are met according to the detail and responses above
6. There are no additional details or drawings for the drop structures apart from those referenced. It should be noted that the drop box grates are to be vehicular grates
7. The intent of the plans is to install 40LF of 15” DWPP on the plans as shown. The bid schedule does include 60LF, but the additional will only be used if needed. AML will pay for actual quantities installed.
