About this file
This is Addendum One to Invitation to Bid (RFB-76-27) issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Engineering and Contract Administration, for renovation of the Restrictive Housing Unit at Northpoint Training Center, Department of Corrections in Danville, Kentucky. The addendum provides clarifications to the original bid documents and adds scope to the project. Acceptable window manufacturers beyond the initially specified Hope's brand now include Arcadia Inc., Optimum Window MFG Corp., Habersham Metals, and Claybourne Manufacturing. Four additional windows (109A, 109B, 202, and 208) located in the central portion of the facility have been added to the scope of work, with scheduling to be coordinated during the pre-construction meeting. The contractor may demo all windows in a phase simultaneously and board them with plywood prior to installing new windows, provided no inmates are present in the cells. Work hours of Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., are acceptable and shall be coordinated with the facility. Site access occurs at the gate at Tower 1, with all personnel and vendors subject to search upon entry and exit.
Existing penetrations in precast concrete should be reused for plumbing and HVAC systems when possible, verified and coordinated in the field. The security glazing specification requires 1/2" clear Lexan MR-10 by Global Security Glazing as the basis of design, with technical performance data including forced entry classification to ASTM F 1233 Class II and ASTM 1915 Grade 4, and a light transmission rating of 0.79. Site staging shall follow sketch SK-A01, with potential dumpster and Conex box placement in a designated area requiring minimum 10-foot-high temporary fencing on east and west sides if used. The contractor is responsible for repairing any damage to adjacent site areas to like-new condition. A site visit occurred on September 11, 2026, with photographs available for bidder reference. Receipt of the addendum must be acknowledged on the bid form.
