About this file
This is Addendum No. 1 issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Engineering and Contract Administration for RFB-148-25 regarding the renovation of 5 cottages at the FFA Leadership Training Camp in Hardinsburg, Kentucky. The addendum, dated December 11-12, 2024, provides multiple clarifications and changes to the renovation project specifications, including details about asbestos removal from existing floor tiles, attic access specifications, HVAC installations, and various architectural modifications.
Key technical clarifications include: asbestos materials in floor tiles will be removed by the state, mow strip width increased from 18" to 30", standard gray epoxy floors with no flakes, wood blocking requirements for HVAC support, Tyvek building wrap specifications, plywood panel requirements (A-C faced), and prohibition of spray cellulose insulation. MEP items specify that no pre-approved substitutes will be allowed for mini-split systems, though approved equals meeting specifications are permitted. The addendum also includes electrical drawing revisions regarding lighting circuits and exit light configurations. Project completion dates will be determined in the final contract based on the contractor start date plus project time listed in Special Conditions.

ARCHITECTURAL I TEMS:
G E N E R A L A R C H I T E C T U R A L I T E M S :
A1.1 Clarification: All existing floor tiles and adhesive in all ten cabins contain asbestos materials and will be removed by the state per General Conditions Article, 11.3 Hazardous Materials. Please price the documents with the assumption that all asbestos containing material (existing flooring and adhesive) will be removed by others (NIC).
A1.2 Is there any lead paint existing in the cabins? Unknown. The existing ceiling is to be painted.
The painted block gets covered by new materials. All demo items have poly/shellac finish.
See General Conditions Article, 11.3 Hazardous Materials.
A1.3 Clarification: All cabins have attic access panels in the ceiling just inside and above the door. Below are pictures of the attic space that are consistent of all five cabins. Assume existing roof rafters are at 24” O.C.
A1.4 What is the color on the Epoxy Floors? Standard gray, no flakes.
A1.5 What is the width of the Mow Strip? The width of the Mow Strip shall be changed from 18” wide to 30” wide.
A1.6 Will wood blocking be required between the block and the metal siding @ the outdoor HVAC unit support angle to carry the unit weight? THE SUPPORTS ARE PER THE
MANUFACTURER’S RECEOMMENDATIONS AND ARE TYPICALLY SECURED TO THE STUCTURE.
Assume solid 2x wood blocking installed behind the metal panels to secure Mech equipment supports. GC to coordinate with Mech contractor for size and location of blocking.
A1.7 Is there to be any Tyvek Building Wrap behind the ¾” rigid insulation board? Yes, at surface of existing wood sheathing.
A1.8 Does the existing interior wood T&G wall panels have furring behind them in which it will need to be removed to construct the new 2x4 framing for the new plywood wall panels?
There are currently only two horizontal 2x4 behind the T&G panels. One at the top (ceiling) and one at the T.O. the CMU wall. They can likely be used as part of the new wall framing.
A1.9 Would Spray Cellulose Insulation be Acceptable for the wall & attic Insulation? No.
A1.10 Can an alternate supplier for the Board & Batten Metal Panels be used? Yes, if the alternate manufacturer materials conform to the same size, gauge, and provides an embossed wood grain pattern option (required to match all other recent cabin renovations).
A1.11 Is there a Basis Of Design for the paint? Yes, see the Paint Schedule in Specification Section 099000
A1.12 Clarification: All new interior plywood panels shall be A-C faced. A-face to the interior of the room.

A1.19 Will the new HVAC be a ductless split system with one or two ceiling cassettes? See Drawing Sheet H.1 and Specification Section 238126 – Ductless Split system Air Conditioners.
A1.20 What is the tonnage of the mini-split system? See Drawing Sheet H.1 and Specification Section 238126 – Ductless Split system Air Conditioners.
E L E C T R I C A L D R A W I N G I T E M S :
