About this file
This document is an addendum to a bid opportunity issued by the California Department of Parks and Recreation for upgrades to the Eagle Cottage building at the Columbia State Historic Park in Tuolumne County, California. The addendum addresses several questions related to the project, including the use of 18-inch cedar shakes instead of 20-inch, the option to install a TPO roof instead of a hot mop roof, and the moisture content requirements for lumber. The addendum also confirms the specified dishwasher model is available. The overall project involves replacing the roof, renovating the kitchen, and modifying exterior elements of the historic Eagle Cottage building.
The contract opportunity has a bid due date of November 22, 2024 at 2 PM. A mandatory job showing was held, and a DVBE participation goal of 6% has been set. A 5% small business preference is available, and all contractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations. Funding and other requirements related to this public works project are outlined in the supplementary information provided.

1. Questions (Q) and Answers (A):
1) Q: Can 18-inch cedar shingles be used in lieu of 20-inch cedar shingles. This material is more readily available.
A: Class B fire rated 18" cedar shakes may be used. Note the project specifies shakes, not shingles for roofing material.
2) Q: Can a TPO roof be installed instead of the hot mop roof, as shown on Sheet A-
2.0, keynote #5.
A: Provide SBS modified bituminous roofing per specifications. Note that the specifications indicate cold adhesive application.
3) Q: Project specifications identify use of #1 lumber 4-9% moisture content, in lieu of the At Typical 19%? Please confirm as this will be special order.
A: For re-roof related historic wood repair lumber, provide lumber as indicated in specification 060312 2.3/A (6-12% moisture content). For other work, provide lumber as indicated in specification section 061000 2.1/B and 2.2/B (max. 19%).
