About this file
This is Construction Bid Addendum No. 2 issued by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, State Facilities Administration Design and Construction Division, for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Rifle River Recreation Area Pedestrian Bridge Replacement project (File Number 751.22334.CTS). The project involves the replacement of a pedestrian bridge at the Rifle River Recreation Area in Lupton, Michigan. The addendum was issued on October 18, 2024, with a bid opening date of October 23, 2024. The professional firm is C2AE, with Erik Cronk serving as the professional and Chris Schanbeck as the project director. All bidders must acknowledge receipt of Addendum No. 2 in the bid summary and bid form, as failure to do so may result in bid rejection.
The addendum incorporates several clarifications and modifications to the bidding documents, including updates to Sheet C-005 regarding soil boring locations, access gates, bridge foundation keynotes, and contractor staging areas. Key approvals included in the addendum are substitution requests for TrueNorth Steel and Pioneer Bridges as prefabricated steel pedestrian truss bridge manufacturers, acceptance of C8x18.7 Corten channels as alternatives to the specified MC 8x21.4 channels, and approval of copper naphthalene treatment for wood. The addendum clarifies that the bridge shall be constructed of weathered steel (Corten) rather than galvanized steel, specifies that surface preparation is not required with brush cleaning of loose rust scale being acceptable, and denies approval of fiber reinforced plastic or fiberglass grating in place of composite decking. The soil borings referenced in specifications were located approximately 5 feet east of the existing bridge's east side and 5 feet west of the existing bridge's west side.

A: Certified Bridge Fabricator - Intermediate and Fracture Control Endorsement required. Not approved unless the certification is provided.
