About this file
This is an Addendum 1 Questions and Answers document issued by Ingham Intermediate School District on March 5, 2019, in response to an Invitation to Bid for lathes. The addendum clarifies responsibilities and installation requirements for multiple lathe machines and associated accessories. Key clarifications include that Ingham ISD will handle offloading machines from delivery trucks, removing items from skids, and placement within the building, as well as performing all electrical hookup and wiring. The vendor is responsible for installing specific components including Factory Installed Digital Readouts, Mounted Chuck Guards, Interlock/Electric Door Locks, and Rear Splash Guards. The Aloris Quick Change Tool Post and both jaw chucks will not be installed by the vendor, and Ingham ISD will attach work lights. Training on machine operation will be provided to a teacher already familiar with lathe-type machines, and if separate deliveries are required, training will occur only after the first machine delivery.
The addendum addresses vendor compliance obligations, clarifying that vendors must ensure machines meet all applicable industry regulations and safety standards, including those referenced in Line Item 6 and Line Item 24 of the original bid specifications. The document specifically notes that Ingham ISD is requesting safety compliance rather than OSHA approval, and that electrical installation and hookup are the responsibility of the school district, not the vendor. No pricing information, set-asides, contract terms, or award dates are provided in this clarification document.

3. Who is responsible for removing from the skid and placement in the building?
a. Ingham ISD
4. Can you please clarify the requirements of installation for the accessories?
a. Aloris Quick Change Tool Post – not installed on machines

c. Iron Body 8” 4-jaw chuck – not installed on machines

e. Mounted Chuck Guard – must be installed by vendor
f. Interlock/Electric Door Lock – must be installed by vendor
g. Work Light – Ingham ISD will attach
h. Rear Splash Guard – must be installed by vendor
5. To fulfil your requirements to Line Item No. 6, the industry regulations for machines sometimes require what is called a U.L. Approval, a CSA-US Approval or possibly an
NFPA-79 Electrical Standards Approval. Can you be more specific?
a. It is the vendor’s responsibility to ensure that the machines meet all industry regulations and/or requirements as stated in number 6.
6. Line Item No. 24 has many, many OSHA Safety Requirements but there is no such machine as an OSHA approved machine. Under the specifications it was stated that you need Chuck Guard, an Interlock Electric Door Switch and a Splash Guard which are all safety requirements but there are other requirements that were not mentioned. Even with all those other safety issues the machine might never be OSHA approve because everyone has their own way of classifying something. Could the school be looking for a
TUV-SUD Inspection?
a. Ingham ISD is asking for safety compliance in regard to the machines
7. Does installing include hook-up to the Electrical Box or any other Electrical work like running Lines and/or Wires?
a. Installing does not include the electrical hook up, Ingham ISD will perform this
8. Are we speaking of training a Layman Teacher from Scratch?
March 5, 2019
a. No, the instructor is familiar with these types of machines and will need instruction on the operation of the new machines
9. On page 9 of the bid you have an option to have the machines shipped separately. Will the training be after the first machine is delivered? If there is a second delivery there would not be training?
a. If Ingham ISD needs to take two separate deliveries training would be after the delivery of the first machine and would not be necessary after delivery of the second machine
