9. How will the City verify the rods are tightened enough?
The Engineer will verify the rods are tightened to 12,000 lbs. of tension by using a torque wrench.
10. If using ¾” steel plate to disperse the load from a snooper’s outriggers, would it be permissible to run the outriggers on the sidewalk prior to the repairs being completed? If so, what dimensions would the plate need to be?
The Contractor may place the snooper’s outriggers on the sidewalk no more than 12” from the face of the sidewalk curb. A steel plate will not be allowed on top of the sidewalk. The Contractor shall replace the curb blocks as determined by the Engineer and achieve full design strength as well as place seasoned oak wedges in center of each open drain slot prior to placing outriggers on sidewalk curb.
