About this file

This document is an Addendum to a state and local government solicitation for the Field of Hope Turf Replacement Project in Peachtree City, Georgia. The addendum provides clarifications and responses to questions from bidders.

The addendum states that the City expects work to begin in late May/early June and allows the contractor to use a portion of the fenced-in city property adjacent to the Field of Hope for storage with approval from the project manager. The City will not provide a dump site, so the contractor is responsible for proper disposal of all waste. The addendum also approves Sprinturf's request to use their UltraBlade DFE Extreme product as an acceptable alternative, with the condition that the specified backing material must be used and the product must be wheelchair friendly.

27 February 2024 Attachments DPS for DFE Extreme Lisport Comparison Test summary

Sprinturf has the most dual fiber fields in the nation.

DFE Extreme fields feature a 330 micron plus monofilament and a 120 micron plus slit film. Exclusively made in-house and in America.

The combination of monofilament and parallel-fibrillated fibers interlock to nearly eliminate infill flyout – a common complaint amongst athletes, coaches, and parents. The available two color configuration provides stunning aesthetics.

Sprinturf DFE Extreme fields feature two unique polymer technologies. State of the art C8 monofilament resins from Dow and Nova are married to a proprietary metallacene slit film resin from Exxon. The combined product featuring the greatest polymer suppliers in the world provide unmatched durability with exceptional resilience, playability, and safety.

The information provided above represents the stan-dard characteristics for the named product. If required this product can be manufac-tured to meet alternative specification requirements within our manufacturing tolerances. The above refer-enced data and supporting reports apply only to the sample tested and are not necessarily indicative of the qualities of apparently iden-tical or similar products.

TEST REPORT

CLIENT:

Company: Sprinturf Report Number: 73513 Address: 550 Long Point Rd Suite 205 Lab Test Number: 2994-5588 Mt Pleasant, SC 29464 Test Completion Date: 4/11/2018 Report Date: 4/12/2018 Requested By: Bryan Wagoner Page: 1 of 8

TEST MATERIAL:

Material Type: Synthetic Turf Date Received: 2/21/2018 Material Condition: EXCELLENT: XXX GOOD: POOR: REJECTED:

Product ID: DFE 46 2.25” Infill System: 100% Ambient 10/20 SBR Crumb Rubber

TESTING METHODS REQUESTED:

Testing Services, Inc was instructed by the client to perform the following testing:

Standard: FIFA Section 17 Test Method: Procedure for Simulated Mechanical Abrasion Standard: EN 15336 Test Method: Surface for Sports Area, Exposure for Synthetic Turf to Simulated Wear (LiSport)

PRINCIPLE:

This procedure simulates high levels of athletic use of the synthetic turf in an accelerated period of time under laboratory conditions. Two studded rollers were traversed to and fro over the infilled turf to produce mechanical action of the surface that occurs during normal use. This report details the effects of this mechanical action as it relates to degradation of the pile fiber.

The client, Sprinturf, commissioned TSi to evaluate simulated wear of submitted finished synthetic turf, referenced above, with the use of an infill system.

There was no underlayment or shock pad used for test.

The results are indicative of mechanical wear only and do not take into account the effects of weathering, uv degradation, or use of the turf outside of competition.

PROCEDURE:

A test specimen, 800mmX400mm, was cut from the sample lot to be exposed to mechanical abrasion to a Lisport Linear Abrader equipped with 145 studs per cylinder and linear speed of movement (to and fro) of 0.25 ms geared so that one roller is 40% faster than the other. The design of the machine ensures that the studs do not repeatedly impact the same spots.

The test specimen was mounted into the sample tray. The rollers were adjusted to ensure full stud contact with the pile surface. The Lisport was then activated for 100,000 total cycles. The Lisport was stopped every 5,000 cycles and the pile fiber degradation was graded, the surface re-groomed, and displaced infill was reinstalled.

DEVIATION FROM TEST METHOD:

Requested By: Bryan Wagoner Page: 2 of 8

Material Condition: EXCELLENT: XXX GOOD: POOR: REJECTED:

TEST RESULTS:

A scale of 1 to 5 was used for descriptive evaluation of the pile fibers due to the effect of mechanical wear (Lisport) at each 5,000 cycle interval.

The following is an explanation of the scale:

Rating Description

1.0 None or Negligible

2.0 Slight

3.0 Moderate

4.0 Considerable

5.0 Severe

The following was rated using the referenced rating scale: tuft loss, pile flattening, fiber splitting, and infill dispersion.

# of Cycles Infill Dispersion Tuft Loss Pile Flattening Fiber Splitting

5,000 1 2 1 1 10,000 1 2 1 1 15,000 1 2 1 1 20,000 1 2 1 1 25,000 1 2 1 1 30,000 1 2 1 1 35,000 1 2 1 1 40,000 1 2 1 1 45,000 1 2 1 1 50,000 1 2 1 1 55,000 1 2 1 1 60,000 1 2 1 1.5 65,000 1 2 1 1.5 70,000 1 2 1 1.5 75,000 1 2 2 1.5 80,000 1 2 2 2 85,000 1 2 2 2 90,000 1 2 2 2.5 95,000 1 2 2 2.5

100,000 1 2 2 2.5

CONCLUSION: The exposed test specimen was returned to the client.

Based on the following “typical” use of the turf: 40 hours/per week, 50 weeks/per year or 2,000 hrs. of athletic competition, the Lisport wear would indicate at 100,000 cycles the equivalency of 50 years wear.

Infill dispersion was very negligible for the test duration. Tuft Loss/Tuft Pullout from the backing was slight for the test duration.

Pile flattening was very negligible for the first 70,000 cycles, and became slight for the test duration.

Fiber splitting was very negligible for the first 55,000 cycles, and was very slight after 75,000 cycles. Splitting was then slight up to 85,000 cycles, and became very moderate for the test duration.
