About this file
This is Addendum No. 1 issued by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for Project No. 000575/15 regarding the Kalkaska Garage Paving project, dated March 22, 2018. The addendum provides changes and clarifications to the original bid documents, including: removal of an electronic sensor at the north entrance gate, permission to pave around existing posts at the east entrance gate, requirements for HMA millings storage on site, and clarification that the contractor is responsible for hiring independent testing for density testing while MDOT will handle quality assurance. The document includes detailed pavement core data from 15 test holes showing HMA, concrete, and gravel layer thicknesses, with no water table noted in any location.
The associated removals drawing shows quantities including 14,150 square yards of HMA surface removal, 91 square yards of pavement removal, 3,165 cubic yards of earth excavation, and various other smaller removal items. The contractor must coordinate with the Kalkaska Garage Supervisor regarding project staging and maintaining facility usability throughout construction. The document specifies that concrete areas in front of doorways will remain in place and only one bollard (located in front of the salt barn) is to be removed. No work is permitted on Sundays.
