About this file

This document is an addendum issued by the Floyd County Board of Commissioners in Georgia pertaining to Bid #24-028 for the purchase of a mid-size hydraulic excavator and rotator head. The initial specifications have been amended, removing the requirement for a thumb attachment and instead requiring a grapple, 36-inch ditching bucket, and 24-inch digging bucket. The clarification cites concerns over the excavator's balance and stability with the thumb attachment. The solicitation is for the purchase of one mid-size hydraulic excavator with the updated attachment requirements.

The pricing and other salient terms of the contract are not provided in this addendum. The original solicitation documents would contain those details. This addendum solely focuses on clarifying and amending the technical specifications for the required equipment.

FOR: ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:

Bid #24-028 – Mid-Size Hydraulic Excavator & Rotator Head

FROM: Randy E. Self, Asst. Purchasing Director

DATE: August 26, 2024

RE: Clarification of Specifications

After more questions and some additional research, we have concluded our specifications need to change. After specifying that the thumb remain on the machine with a rotator head, we have discovered this would cause it to be off balance and everything on the end of the boom will not work as well or be as stable due to the weight.

Clarification: We are amending our specification to drop the thumb and instead we need a grapple as an attachment, 36 in. ditching bucket, and 24 in. digging bucket.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused but we hope it will help you with your decisions concerning participation and pricing.

Thank you, Randy E. Self
