About this file
This document is an Addendum #1 issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for a solicitation related to the procurement of canned fruit products. The addendum provides clarification and responses to questions raised by potential bidders. It outlines changes to the original Cost Submittal Attachment B, as well as responses to questions regarding approved product brands, availability of products, and the timing of the bid. The addendum notes that failure to attach the addendum to the solicitation response may result in disqualification. The bid opening date is May 8, 2012 at 1:30 pm.
Regarding pricing and other terms, the addendum states that China-sourced products will be accepted in addition to domestic products, and that limited availability of certain products until the new crop is ready will be acceptable. The addendum also indicates that some previously approved brands were not submitted for review under the current solicitation, and therefore may not be accepted.

To All Suppliers:
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania defines a solicitation “Addendum”” as an addition to or amendment of the original terms, conditions, specifications, or instructions of a procurement solicitation (e.g., Invitation for Bids or Request for Proposals).
List any and all changes:
· Please see revised attached document, ATTACHMENT B Cost Submittal.
Official responses to questions:
1. Q. Please let me know where we need to send samples for brand approval (Vendor Approval)? Please forward any additional product specification that are not decrypted in the RFQ.
A. Products on this IFB were reviewed and approved pursuant to RFEI 12-2010. No new brands are being added at this time.
2. Q. For the last bid, Knouse Foods Apple leaf sliced apples were hard spec’d by the DOC. The reason I thought for this was to guarantee consistency for the state of PA. The approved suppliers would be supplying imported china product. Why was Knouse omitted as an approved label for this item?
A. Apple Leaf sliced apples was reviewed pursuant REFI 12-2010 and was found to be unacceptable.
3. Q. For the last bid, Apple Snax, a Canadian company, was hard spec’d for apple sauce. The approved brands are Knouse and NE marketing. NE marking would be supplying imported Chinese product whereas Knouse is domestic, and PA Preferred. Is Chinese going to be accepted as well as domestic?
A. Yes, based on RFEI 12-2010 determinations.
4. Q. Pacific Coast Producers, (Mission Pride label) is not approved form fruit cocktail but is for fruit mix. The difference between these two products is that cocktail has 5 fruits (peaches, pears, pineapples, grapes, and cherries) and whereas mix has three fruits (peaches, pears, grapes). Will PCP fruit cocktail be acceptable?
. A. Mission Pride Fruit Cocktail product was not submitted for review pursuant RFEI 12-2010.
5. Q. The timing of the bid is problematic in terms of the beginning availability of the fruit cocktail and fruit mix. Product may not be available until the new pack which begins in August. This means that deliveries would be delayed until product is available in late summer/early fall. The bid begins in July. Will the DOC accept limited availability until the new crop is ready for distribution?
A. Yes
6. Q. Snokist label for pears is approved for the DPW. Is Snokist label (Pacific Coast Producers Product) approved for this bid?
A. Snokist pear product was not submitted for review pursuant to RFEI 12-2010.
