About this file

This is Addendum No. 1 to Invitation for Price Quote (IFPQ) 32A0615 issued by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for fencing removal and replacement in Sylmar, CA. The project involves removing existing chain link fence and installing new industrial curved-top wrought iron metal fencing with expanded metal. The mandatory pre-bid site inspection was held on February 6, 2025. The document provides answers to 16 questions from potential bidders regarding specifications, including confirmation that all existing cement footings must be removed, posts should be minimum 11 gauge steel, panels can be welded or fastened with clamps and screws, and materials must be primed and painted black rather than pre-galvanized.

The specifications require steel products to meet American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) A513 or A500 Grade B standards or equivalent, though this is not strictly a Buy America project. Work hours are specified in Exhibit A Section 4, with confirmation that work cannot extend to 3:00 PM daily. Bids must be emailed to the contract analyst, with complete details on submission provided in IFPQ Section C.20. While American-made products are encouraged, alternate materials meeting the specified ASTM standards are acceptable. The addendum clarifies that bidders should refer to Cal eProcure Posting No. 32A0615 for complete bid documents, as no separate plans or specs are provided beyond the exhibits referenced.
