About this file

Addendum No. 1 for the FY25 Asphalt Resurfacing project was issued by the City of Asheville, North Carolina on 5/5/2025, providing clarifications and responses to potential bidders' questions. The addendum addresses specific inquiries about project details for Dakota Street, Gray Street, and Rockcliff Place, including existing concrete thickness and base material specifications. The document confirms that the project is not likely to start before August 1, 2025, due to required council and staff approvals, but the City is willing to allow part of the work to be carried over into spring 2026. The addendum also clarifies that none of the roads involved will require night work or have restricted working hours.

The addendum serves as a supplemental document to the original Request for Bids (Project Number 298-Resurfacing-FY25), emphasizing that failure to acknowledge the addendum may result in a bid being deemed non-responsive. Bidders are directed to the City's procurement website (www.ashevillenc.gov/bids) as the official source for this and future addenda. The document provides technical details about base materials (specifically I19 for building base) and confirms the project's flexible timeline, allowing for potential completion in the following spring if necessary. The addendum maintains transparency by directly addressing potential contractors' questions about project specifics and scheduling constraints.

Project Name: FY25 Asphalt Resurfacing

Project Number: 298-Resurfacing-FY25

TO: Prospective Applicants

This addendum forms a part of the Request for Bids and modifies the original Project Number 298-Resurfacing-FY25 only to the extent specifically noted below. Failure to acknowledge this addendum in the submittal may subject the submitter to being deemed non-responsive.

This Addendum is posted on the City procurement website at www.ashevillenc.gov/bids. This is the official source of this addendum. All addenda and attachments shall be published to the same location.

This Addendum consists of 2 pages in total.

This Addendum is to Respond to Questions

Answers to Questions

1. Question: Dakota Street - how thick is the existing concrete and what material needs to be installed to build base - stone or asphalt?

Response: The concrete is up to 6 inches thick. I19 will be used to build base.

2. Question: Gray Street - is the AST one or two layers of ⅜” stone?

Response: Two layers.

3. Question: Rockcliff Place - how thick is the existing concrete and what material needs to be installed to build base - stone or asphalt?

Response: The concrete is 6 inches thick. I19 will be used to build base.

4. Question: Is the project able to be started prior August 1, 2025?

Response: Because of having to obtain council and staff approvals it is not likely that the contractor will be able to start much before August 1st. The City does realize that this presents a compressed schedule and it is willing to allow part of the work to be carried over into the spring of 2026.

5. Question: Are there any roads that have to be done during the night or have restricted working hours?

http://www.ashevillenc.gov/bids

Response: None of these roads will be night work or have restricted working hours.

I understand that failure to acknowledge any addenda may cause this bid/proposal to be deemed non-responsive.
