About this file
This is Addendum No. 1 issued by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for Invitation for Bid (IFB) #07A5973 for Drainage Cleaning Services, dated December 3, 2024. The addendum addresses a clarification regarding lane closure scenarios, specifically updating Exhibit A, Section 7, regarding shoulder closures. The key update specifies that when a single lane closure is performed with an adjacent shoulder being closed for safety or operational purposes, it is still classified as a single lane closure.
The addendum outlines that contractors must supply all equipment, devices, labor, personnel materials, travel, and tools for traffic control if required by the Caltrans Contract Manager. Shoulder closures are considered normal work in conjunction with single and multi-lane closures, with no additional compensation provided beyond the bid unit price for a single shoulder closure. The Caltrans Contract Manager may request assistance from Caltrans Maintenance Personnel for traffic control operations.

Addendum No. 1 Invitation for Bid (IFB) #07A5973
Drainage Cleaning Services
NOTICE TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:
Addendum No. 1 is being issued for the above-referenced IFB. Bids for this work shall be with the full understanding of this Addendum.
The following represents questions submitted for this IFB and Caltrans responses:
Question 1: Please clarify how Caltrans interprets a scenario where the Contractor is required to perform a single lane closure where there is a “shoulder” adjacent to the lane being taken. Would Caltrans consider this scenario a “Single Lane Closure” or a “Multi Lane Closure”?
Answer 1: Please see update to Exhibit A, Section 7, Detailed description of work to be performed and duties of all parties, Y.6. c “Shoulder Closures”.
c) Shoulders Closures
Contractor shall supply all equipment, devices, labor, personnel materials, travel, and tools for traffic control if required by Caltrans Contract Manager in the performance of this work. Caltrans Contract Manager may also ask Caltrans Maintenance Personnel to assist with traffic control. The bid unit price will be for one single shoulder closure. Shoulder Closures are considered as normal work in conjunction with single and multi-lane closures and no further compensation will be paid.
Note: If a single lane closure is performed with the adjacent shoulder being closed for safety or operational purposes, it is still classified as a single lane closure.
All other terms and conditions set forth in the IFB remain in full force and effect.
Sincerely, Tim Murphy Contract Analyst http://www.dot.ca.gov/dpac/ http://www.dot.ca.gov/dpac/
