About this file

This document is an Addendum to an Invitation for Bid (IFB) issued by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for On-call Scrap Metal and Aluminum Collection and Recycle Services in Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura Counties. The addendum provides responses to questions submitted by prospective bidders, including clarification on the pricing methodology and a revised bid proposal form. The contract requires the selected contractor to provide all necessary labor, materials, supplies, equipment, containers, transportation, travel, and incidentals to collect, remove, and recycle scrap metal from Caltrans Maintenance Stations on an on-call basis.

The bid proposal form requires bidders to provide a competitive percentage to be applied to the American Metal Market (AMM) rate for ferrous bundles on the first day of each month. Caltrans will receive the revenue based on this percentage, and bids charging a fee will be deemed non-responsive. The contract does not have a set term, but will be on an on-call basis to serve the specified counties in California.

Addendum No. 1 Invitation for Bid (IFB) #07A5964

On-call Scrap Metal and Aluminum Collection and Recycle Services in Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura Counties

NOTICE TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:

Addendum No. 1 is being issued for the above-referenced IFB. Bids for this work shall be with the full understanding of this Addendum.

The following represents questions submitted for this IFB and Caltrans responses:

Question 1: Where can I find the published American Metal Market (AMM) price for the Port of San Diego?

Answer 1: Please see the attached corrected bid proposal, which references pricing for scrap metal based at the Port of Los Angeles and not San Diego in Column D of the Bid Proposal.

Question 2: The Bid Sheet lists a line item requesting the Contractor’s Competitive Percentage for non-ferrous metals, but there is no AMM price for non-ferrous metals.

Which category should we use as a basis for pricing?

Answer 2: Please the attached corrected Bid Proposal.

Any bid not submitted on the Revised Bid Proposal, Attachment 1, will be deemed non-responsive and the bid will be rejected.

All other terms and conditions set forth in the IFB remain in full force and effect.

Sincerely, Tim Murphy Contract Analyst http://www.dot.ca.gov/dpac/ http://www.dot.ca.gov/dpac/
