NASA/GRC plans to issue a NASA Research Announcement (NRA) for Advanced Aircraft Concepts for Environmental Sustainability in 2050 (AACES 2050). This NRA will seek to stimulate innovation and the development of advanced conceptual designs and technologies for commercial subsonic aircraft that could enter service around 2050, market permitting. The results of these studies will be used to identify key technology areas for NASA investment and will influence the future content of NASA’s subsonic transport research and technology portfolio.

Topic Areas Include:

• Integrated Advanced Concepts for Sustainability

• Advanced Technologies for Sustainability o Plan Technology Demonstration or Test o Risk Reduction Testing and Assessment to Validate Advanced Technologies

Design Solution

Additional topics areas, possibly representing future phases of research in the topic areas above, may be added to the NRA soliticitation as they become available.

NASA intends to collaborate with industry and academia in a Cost-Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) arrangement for the topic areas described.

The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.

The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 541715 and 1,000, respectively.

The anticipated release date of the Draft NRA is on or about August 7, 2023 with a tentative Industry Day in late August to early September. The anticipated offer due date is on or about November 6, 2023.

All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
